Sukhoi Superjet 100 Expands to Japan

On July 30th 2013 Yakutia Airlines has operated the first flight from Niigata at Japan Honshu Island to Vladivostok in the Russian Far East by Sukhoi Superjet 100.

Earlier in the day, the aircraft performed a ferry flight from Osaka to Niigata, where, following an old aviation tradition, the aircraft was welcomed with a water bridge courtesy of the Niigata Airport Fire Department.

Yakutia Airlines will also operate flights with the Sukhoi Superjet 100 from Niigata to Khabarovsk – the capital of the Far East Federal District of Russia. A flight from Vladivostok to Niigata will take 1.5 hours while passengers on a flight from Khabarovsk to Niigata may enjoy a comfortable Sukhoi Superjet 100 for two hours. The turnaround flight Vladivostok-Niigata is scheduled on August 6 and 13, while the Khabarovsk – Niigata flight will happen on August 3 and 10

“It is exciting that our customer, the largest airline in Russia’s Far East, is successfully establishing new destination routes with Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft,” said Mr Andrey Kalinovsky, Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC) President. “The airline recently started operations to China with our aircraft and now it is also offering flights to Japan. We wish success to Yakutia Airlines in continuing development of its route network to Asia. We are always ready to support our partners in implementation of their projects”.

During the Summer Season these flights will be performed on a charter basis. In case of a sufficient payload of the flights demonstrated, the airline will consider regular basis for these destinations.

Added Mr. Ivan Prostit, Director General of Yakutia Airlines, “Flights from the Russian Far East to Japan are not only expanding Sukhoi Superjet 100’s flight geography, but are also granting new opportunities for a dialogue between our two countries”.

This past winter, SCAC delivered two Sukhoi Superjet 100 to Yakutia Airlines, which can now operate flights in Yakutia’s extremely cold winter conditions.

In the first half of 2013, the two aircraft have operated more than 300 flights and flown for more than 750 flight hours.

Yakutia Airlines’ Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft, are now operating flights in both the Far East of Russia: from Yakutsk to Blagoveshchensk, Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Magadan, Khabarovsk, and abroad – to Beijing and Kharbin.

Firm Order for 20 SSJ100 with Ilyushin Finance Co

On August 27 2013 in the framework of the International Aviation and Space Salon МAKS Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company and Ilyushin Finance Co (IFC) signed two firm contracts for the delivery of 20 Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft.

The first contract included five SSJ100 LR aircraft in 103-seat configuration. An increased passenger capacity will be provided by means of slimmer seats installation. The first deliveries are expected at the end of 2015. The customer is still negotiated at the moment.

The second contract for customers in the South-East Asia and the Middle East region was concluded for fifteen Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft in its Basic version. The first deliveries are expected in 2015 as well.

«The support provided by the largest financial institutes to Sukhoi Superjet 100 project demonstrates its steady and successful development. Our partners placed the order for two SSJ100 modifications: basic and long range, and we hope that customers will appreciate opportunities provided by the two versions of the aircraft», said Andrey Kalinovsky, the President of the Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company.

Sukhoi Superjet 100 LR version differs from the Basic in several respects: it can reach 4578 km and has an increased take-off weight - up to 49.45 tons compensated by the strengthened wing. The SSJ100 LR is equipped with a SaM146 engine with a 5% increased thrust compared to SSJ100 Basic version.

The deliveries will be financed through the support of the Russian Government on financing Russian industrial exports and high-tech products. This support is provided by the Government to banks extending credits to customers buying Russian products.

In June 2013 in the framework of the 50th International Paris Air Show (Le Bourget, France) Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company and Ilyushin Finance Co (IFC) signed the Heads of Agreement (HoA) for the delivery of twenty Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft. The HoA now has been converted to firm order.

With EIS on September 18, 2013, the first two Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft operated by the Mexico’s Interjet confirmed outstanding results in terms of operations. In the first four weeks of operations both aircraft (MSN 95023 and MSN 95024) operated with an average daily utilization of 9.74 block hours and a dispatch reliability of 99.03%.

According to the airline’s operational reliability report, to date the two SSJ100s completed almost 600 flight hours and over 580 flight cycles during commercial operations. The aircraft registered 7 delays with an average delay time of 23 minutes in the first month of operations. Interjet is the first Western SSJ100 operating. The third aircraft (MSN 95028) is expected to be delivered in a few days from SuperJet International’s hangar in Venice (Italy).

“Passengers are very happy with the aircraft. The SSJ100 is confirming its superior aerodynamics and outstanding performance. We are very proud of the new SSJ100: it is currently the only regional aircraft with a 5 abreast configuration enabling mainline comfort with reduced operating costs and the flexibility of a regional jet to be operated in small airports; the SSJ100 is a key choice for Interjet’s development plan focused on serving Mexico’s domestic mid-density routes as well as some short-haul international ones” says Jose Luis Garza, CEO Interjet.

On November 6, 2013 the third Sukhoi Superjet 100 for the Mexican airline Interjet landed in Toluca (Mexico) to join the other two SSJ100 already in service with the airline. The aircraft was rolled out from SuperJet International’s hangar in Venice (Italy) upon completion of customization and technical acceptance procedure on November 5, 2013. On the same day, the SSJ100, registered XA-JLV, took off from Venice Marco Polo airport for the ferry flight to Toluca (Mexico).
The airplane MSN 95028, flown by Interjet crew, during its ferry flight made technical stops in Keflyavik (Iceland) and Bangor (Maine, USA) and then flew directly to Toluca (Mexico), thus confirming its outstanding performance on longer range routes.
I am really proud because another new step has been done – states Nazario Cauceglia, Chief Executive Officer of SuperJet International – Another SSJ100 is now flying in the Americas and it is determined to become a competitive player in the regional segment. With more than two years in operations, the SSJ100 is proving to merge into a single product the comfort of a narrow-body with the reduced costs and flexibility of a regional jet”.
The first two SSJ100 currently in service with Interjet are confirming an outstanding performance with over 99% dispatch reliability and an average daily utilization of 9 flight hours.
The fourth aircraft to be delivered to Interjet (MSN 95036) is currently under completion at SuperJet International’s plant in Italy.
