Washington, US – Venerdì scorso il Department of Transportation ha finalizzato l’approvazione del Foreign Carrier Permit per Norwegian Air Shuttle, sussidiaria irlandese del vettore scandinavo. La decisione arriva tre anni dopo l’istanza presentata da Norwegian Air Shuttle, e nonostante l’opposizione agguerrita delle linee aeree americane e dei sindacati di piloti e assistenti di volo d’oltreoceano.
Biorn Kjos, CEO di Norwegian, ha annunciato che i primi voli da Cork e Shannon verso il Nord America partiranno nell’estate 2017. Il titolo del vettore, quotato alla borsa di Stoccolma, ha fatto registrare un aumento di valore del 13% circa rispetto alla settimana precedente alla decisione del DOT.
Norwegian Air Shuttle intende assumere nove comandanti, cinque relief captains e nove primi ufficiali per la propria base di Fort Lauderdale; altre due basi di equipaggi americani saranno annunciate nel 2017.
