Metto qua.

New setup for Eurowings Group

  • Brussels Airlines set to become long-haul competence center of Eurowings Group
  • Eurowings airline will be responsible for the short-haul business of the Eurowings Group
  • Eurowings Group CEO Thorsten Dirks: “New strategic setup puts us at the helm of European airline consolidation”
After first successes of joint projects, Eurowings and Brussels Airlines will take the next decisive steps in the integration process, defining each other’s roles within the Eurowings Group.

Taking the expertise and strengths of both entities into consideration, Brussels Airlines will become the long-haul competence center of the Eurowings Group, steering all long-haul activities of the entire group out of Brussels. Next to that, the airline will actively participate in the Eurowings Group pan-European growth strategy by becoming the operator for the expansion to other airport bases in the French- and Dutch-speaking part of Europe.

“The successful launch of Eurowings long-haul flights operated by Brussels Airlines out of Düsseldorf to New York, Fort Meyers and Miami last April, reconfirms the long-haul expertise of the Brussels based airline,” said Eurowings Group CEO Thorsten Dirks. “In only five months Eurowings and Brussels Airlines have managed to set up a long-haul base at Düsseldorf, strengthening the group in one of its key German airports,” he added.

In parallel, Eurowings – focusing on European point-to-point traffic – will steer the entire short-haul portfolio of the Eurowings Group from Cologne. Dirks: “Joining forces with Brussels Airlines will not only strengthen our position as the #3 low-cost carrier in Europe but also spur further Eurowings Group growth in the future”, specifies Thorsten Dirks.

Both airlines will continue to operate long-haul and short-haul flights out of their respective bases Brussels, Cologne, Düsseldorf and Vienna. This also means that even though two competence centers are being created at Brussels and Cologne, there will remain functions for both long-haul and short-haul operations at both locations. Implementation of the new setup is planned for 2019. Eurowings Group already operates from more than 20 European bases today.

"Brussels Airlines is recognized for its expertise and for the value it adds to the Eurowings Group. We will continue building on our assets to become an even more important player within the group, while remaining Belgium's strong home carrier and continuing to focus on our guests," adds Christina Foerster, CEO of Brussels Airlines.

Eurowings Group CEO Thorsten Dirks is confident that this new teamwork structure under the umbrella of Eurowings Group is the right strategic step to meet future challenges. “The scattered European aviation landscape is beginning to consolidate – the new structure of Eurowings Group will make it possible for us to be at the helm of this development.”

Re: Lufthansa, €2,36 miliardi di utile netto. Il migliore risultato di sempre

Esatto ci sono state alcune novitá negli ultimi tempi:

2) I 340-600 verrranno ribasati a MUC. I 330 attualmente basati a MUC e senza prima classe saranno tutti trasferiti a FRA.

Buona giornata.

Re: Lufthansa, €2,36 miliardi di utile netto. Il migliore risultato di sempre

Buonasera a tutti,

New tourist destinations in the winter
Eilat and Agadir now part of the flight schedule / New flights to Trieste and Thessaloniki from Frankfurt / Flights to Edinburgh and Tromsø from Munich

If you want to escape the foul weather in autumn and winter, you can now book additional and attractive winter destinations with Lufthansa. Because Europe’s leading airline is expanding its offers from Frankfurt and Munich to include six new tourist destinations.

You've had enough of winter and snow? You dream of a sunshine paradise? Then, you can fly to Eilat (Ovda) in the south of Israel. Lufthansa now flies four times a week from Frankfurt and Munich to the attractive holiday resort at the Red Sea.

Agadir is a popular holiday destination featuring golf courses and endless beaches. The capital of the province of Agadir Ida-Ou Tanane is located on the southern Atlantic coast of Morocco, in the foothills of the Anti-Atlas mountains. Starting this winter, Lufthansa will fly to Agadir (Morocco) every Monday and Saturday from Frankfurt and every Sunday from Munich.

From FRA

Thessaloniki (Greece) is an ideal starting point for hikes and explorations of the north of Greece, and it is the transit airport for onward travel to Chalkidiki in the south east. Starting in winter 2018, Lufthansa once again offers flights to Thessaloniki from Frankfurt - every Friday and Sunday.

If you are not only looking for warm temperatures but city life aswell, you should travel to Trieste (Italy) located in the north-east of Italy. The capital of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia in the north-east of Italy, is considered one of the literary capitals of Europe, and its many ethnic and religious groups have earned it the moniker of ‘early New York’. From the start of the winter, you can fly there with Lufthansa twelve times a week departing from Frankfurt.

From MUC

Not only sun worshippers, but also nature lovers, winter freaks and active holiday enthusiasts will get their money's worth: from December 2018, travellers can now travel twice a week from Munich to the Scottish capital Edinburgh (Great Britain) and from here explore the impressive Highlands of Scotland.

Munich is also the starting point for another new destination, Tromsø (Norway). The city is an important cultural centre north of the Arctic Circle and is regarded as an ideal starting point for experiencing the Northern Lights. Re: Lufthansa, €2,36 miliardi di utile netto. Il migliore risultato di sempre

EW continua a non performare.

Lufthansa cites 'stressful' period at Eurowings as Q2 profit dips

Lufthansa Group has reported an operating profit down 3.2% at €983 million ($1.15 billion) for the second quarter, citing a "stressful period" for subsidiary Eurowings.
The budget unit's earnings "developed negatively", says the group, while praising the performance of its network carriers.
Group revenue rose 0.4% to €9.3 billion in the second quarter.
Lufthansa says first-half earnings were only "marginally below the record result" of the previous year, "largely driven" by positive development of the group's network airlines, including Lufthansa mainline, Swiss and Austrian Airlines.
The network carriers boosted their operating profit 4.9% to €836 million in the second quarter, though revenue was down 3.7% at €5.94 billion.
Lufthansa describes the first half of the year as "very busy and stressful" for Eurowings. The subsidiary's second-quarter operating profit fell 91% to €5 million.
Its parent notes "increasing service irregularities" in the form of flight delays and cancellations which necessitated "significant modifications" to Eurowings' summer schedule.
Lufthansa argues that particular causes of the irregularities were the European Commission decision not to approve the group's acquisition of Niki and the termination of a partnership with the Austrian carrier's successor Laudamotion.
Another factor Lufthansa cites is a delay in incorporating ex-Air Berlin aircraft into the fleet. Lufthansa links this delay to the German aviation regulator's certification process for commercial aircraft.
Eurowings' operations were also adversely affected by external factors such as air traffic controller strikes, "manpower shortages" within European ATC and weather-related flight cancellations, says Lufthansa.
The Star Alliance group says its first-half performance was "overall in line" with its expectations for the full year, but expects its adjusted operating profit for 2018 to be "slightly below" the level achieved last year. FG

Oltre all'articolo riportato posso citare i seguenti punti interni:

Lufthansa Group optimizes hub management of the net-work airlines and prepares for moderate growth in summer 2019

Goal: increase in quality and improved on-time ratings

Multi-hub planning approach to be consistently continued in 2019

Munich: Strengthening commitment to Asia

Lufthansa Group continues to consistently optimize the management of its hubs in Munich, Frankfurt, Zürich and Vienna. The main focus is on the flexible multi-hub system: newly integrated processes mean that Lufthansa Group is increasingly able to move fleets and traffic wherever the conditions are best for quality, growth and cost effectiveness.

Specifically, the Lufthansa Executive Board decided to accelerate its growth at the Munich location and develop the Bavarian capital into a hub with a focus on Asia. Lufthansa Group anticipates high single-digit year-over-year growth for the network airlines at this hub for 2019. In addition to increased frequencies in the flights offered from Munich to Seoul and Singapore, Summer 2019 will see the first ever daily connection from Munich to Bangkok. These flights can be booked as of 4 October 2018. And to further strengthen the portfolio of flights to Asia, the connection to Osaka (Japan) will be moved from Frankfurt to Munich.

The transfer of five Airbus A380 aircraft from Frankfurt to Munich in Summer 2018 was very well received on the market and has been a resounding success. In view of these results, Lufthansa is considering transferring additional A380 aircraft from Frankfurt to Munich in 2020. Three Airbus A320 are being moved from the Frankfurt hub to Munich to support the expansion of feeder traffic while three smaller Bombardier CRJ900 will be transferred from Munich to Frankfurt in exchange.

As a “5-Star” location, Munich will also be reinforced with additional First Class offerings. To support this, the majority of the Frankfurt-based A340-600 fleet will be moved to Munich.

The strategic focus of the Frankfurt hub will continue to be on optimising the destination mix in terms of increased quality. Lufthansa will curb its growth at this hub in order to improve on-time ratings and operational stability. For 2019, Lufthansa Group anticipates low single-digit year-over-year growth for the network airlines at this hub. Lufthansa is starting into the 2018/19 winter season with four new destinations from Frankfurt. Eilat (Israel), Agadir (Morocco), Trieste (Italy) and Thessaloniki (Greece) are new additions to the flight program. Lufthansa is also further expanding its route network to the USA. Starting 3 May 2019, the airline will offer its first connections from Frankfurt to Austin (USA).

There are plans to expand on the growth trajectory at the Lufthansa Group hub and home base of Swiss International Air Lines in Zürich. Due to its very successful development over the past years, the aim here is to continue to bank on moderate growth. The main focus in this is on the expansion of activity in Europe. The 2018/19 winter flight schedule includes a new destination: Bremen. And SWISS is now offering Bordeaux (France), Kiev (Ukraine), Brindisi (Italy) and the German island of Sylt as attractive year-round destinations.

Austrian Airlines in Vienna will be significantly expanding its European route network in the upcoming 2018/19 winter flight schedule. Beginning in late October 2018, more than 40 additional flights per week will be taking off for 14 destinations, including cities in Germany such as Berlin, Düsseldorf and Hamburg but also other European destinations such as Copenhagen (Denmark), Kiev (Ukraine), Athens (Greece) and Kraków (Poland). This increase is made possible by increased efficiencies in the route network. In addition to the new European flights, Austrian Airlines is also increasing some of its flight frequencies to North America, strengthening Vienna as a Lufthansa Group hub.

“Our multi-hub system, in which four hubs share a single centralized commercial management, functions well and is successful. This makes it possible for us to react to changing conditions with extreme speed and flexibility. Our key factors are quality, efficiency and cost effectiveness,” saysHarry Hohmeister, Member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG and Head of Hub Management, speaking on the occasion of these decisions. “The goal of the entire industry should be increased quality. This means that it is also essential for the infrastructure on the ground and in the air to keep pace with the growth of the industry. Existing deficits must be removed. We are growing where the cost and quality are right. This is also why we are waiting until next summer to decide, based on the development of the hubs, where the new Boeing 777-9 aircraft will be taking off from as of 2020. This plane will be taking off for the first time with new products in Business Class and Premium Economy and setting new standards for the industry,” Hohmeister adds in Frankfurt.

ANALYSIS: Lufthansa to add Frankfurt-Austin but focus on Munich

Lufthansa will shift more capacity into Munich – potentially including additional Airbus A380s – and launch new daily flights to Bangkok as part of network changes that make the Bavarian airport the focus of growth.
Detailing summer 2019 plans across the group's four main network hubs – Frankfurt, Vienna and Zurich in addition to Munich – the German group says it plans to curb growth at its biggest hub Frankfurt. But it does intend to add new long-haul flights from Frankfurt to US city Austin next summer.
Flagging its multi-hub strategy – and the need for ground infrastructure to match growth ambitions – the group also says it will wait until year before deciding where to deploy its newest aircraft type: the Boeing 777-9s set to join the fleet in the summer of 2020.
Lufthansa anticipates "high single-digit" year-on-year growth from its network airline operations at Munich in 2019, with a particular focus on Asian routes. The group will start a daily mainline service from Munich to Bangkok next summer.
Low-cost unit Eurowings this summer began operating the route at four-times-weekly and will continue to do so into October. Eurowings also serves Bangkok from Cologne, while Lufthansa flies to the Thai capital daily from Frankfurt. Star Alliance partner Thai Airways already operates daily Bangkok-Munich flights.
Lufthansa will also switch its existing Osaka flights to Munich from Frankfurt. Frequencies will be raised on its Seoul and Singapore routes. The carrier this summer operated to eight Asia-Pacific destinations from Munich.

FlightGlobal schedules data shows Lufthansa mainline capacity at Munich around 9% higher in September, by all metrics, than in the same month last year. This contrasts with more measured growth at Frankfurt.
The German carrier this summer shifted five of its A380s from Frankfurt to Munich, deploying the type on its Beijing, Hong Kong and Los Angeles routes. Describing this as a "resounding success", Lufthansa says it is considering transferring additional A380s from Frankfurt to Munich in 2020.
Before then, it will next year switch three A320s from Frankfurt to Munich – with three of the smaller Bombardier CRJ900 regional jets moving the other way – to support the expansion of feeder traffic.
The revamp also puts an emphasis on reinforcing premium traffic from Munich with additional first-class offerings. "To support this, the majority of the Frankfurt-based A340-600 fleet will be moved to Munich," the carrier says
.
FRANKFURT FLATTER
Frankfurt will still be Lufthansa's biggest base by some distance, in particular in ASK terms, but the carrier will again keep a tight rein on capacity there next year. Lufthansa plans "low single digit" growth for its network airlines at Frankfurt in 2019.
"The strategic focus of the Frankfurt hub will continue to be on optimising the destination mix in terms of increased quality. Lufthansa will curb its growth at this hub in order to improve on-time ratings and operational stability," the carrier says.
This winter Lufthansa is adding Eilat in Israel, Agadir in Morocco, the Italian city of Trieste and Greek resort Thessaloniki as destinations from Frankfurt. It has now disclosed that it will serve Austin from Frankfurt next summer, beginning 3 May. FlightGlobal schedules data shows that German leisure carrier Condor has operated low-frequency summer-only flights on the route for the last two years. British Airways' and Norwegian's London services from Heathrow and Gatwick respectively are the only other European schedules services to the Texan city.
At Zurich there will be "moderate growth", says Lufthansa, citing the successful development of local subsidiary Swiss at the airport in recent years. Swiss this winter will add Bremen in Germany to its Zurich network, as well making French city Bordeaux, Ukrainian capital Kiev, Brindisi in Italy and German island Sylt year-round destinations.
The focus of another group carrier, Austrian Airlines, at Vienna, will be on adding frequency to existing routes. It will add 40 additional weekly flights across 14 destinations, made possible by network efficiencies.
"Our multi-hub system, in which four hubs share a single centralised commercial management, functions well and is successful. This makes it possible for us to react to changing conditions with extreme speed and flexibility," states Lufthansa head of hub management Harry Hohmeister,
He raises the prospect of competition among the hubs over where the new 777-9s will be based. "The goal of the entire industry should be increased quality. This means that it is also essential for the infrastructure on the ground and in the air to keep pace with the growth of the industry. Existing deficits must be removed.
"We are growing where the cost and quality are right. This is also why we are waiting until next summer to decide, based on the development of the hubs, where the new Boeing 777-9 aircraft will be taking off from as of 2020," says Hohmeister.
