Etihad Airways introduces six new in-flight kit designs

Etihad Airways has introduced an updated collection of new destination-inspired Business Class amenity kit designs based on iconic cities on its extensive global network. The new range builds on the airline’s award-winning partnership with LUXE City Guides, the straight-talking guide for travellers, and London-based skincare and grooming brand Scaramouche and Fandango.
The unique collaboration, which was first launched in October 2015, offers Etihad Airways’ guests a stylish and collectable product which provides superior comfort amenities and cultural immersion.
The five new cities added are Rome, New York, Sao Paulo, Melbourne, and Bangkok, while the existing Abu Dhabi kit has been refreshed with a new design and a fully updated city guide. The designs were specially created for Etihad Airways by LUXE City Guides. Each kit features a specially created city guide, showcasing a selection of each destination’s best hotels, restaurants, spas, bars, boutiques, and shopping, as well as services, specialists and personal tour guides.
Calum Laming, Etihad Airways’ Vice President Guest Experience, said, "The partnership with exciting and innovative young brands such as LUXE City Guides and Scaramouche and Fandango has proved very popular. The luxury amenities, collectable guides and functional bag complement Etihad Airways’ Business Class experience, adding extra colour, character and innovative flair to our service and hospitality offering."
The designs of the amenity kits are predominantly influenced by the architectural features of the respective cities. The Abu Dhabi kit is inspired by the intricate mosaics of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and New York by the city's grid-like streets, avenues and iconic yellow taxis. The Colosseum and ancient stone architecture influence the Rome kit, Bangkok reflects the city’s decorative temples, the Melbourne kit takes its cue from the city's 19th century buildings, the Yarra river and coastline; and the Sao Paulo kit reflects the commercial capital’s iconic pavement pattern and the national colours of Brazil.
The Scaramouche and Fandango comfort kit features a facial moisturiser to combat fatigue and the lower humidity levels in the cabin, and the new kits also include a sleep pack containing socks and eye mask, a dental pack and earplugs.
Etihad Airways’ award-winning range of Business Class amenity kits received the coveted Gold Seal for Excellence at the Travelplus Awards earlier this year.

Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi Int'l) has confirmed it will be terminating flights between Abu Dhabi Int'l and São Paulo Guarulhos, Brazil with effect from March 26 of next year.

The Emirati carrier said in a statement that the route, its only scheduled service to South America, had been severely affected by the Brazilian economic downturn as well as a weakening Real.

“The performance of the route has fallen short of company expectations and the difficult decision has been made to indefinitely suspend operations,” it said.

Etihad launched the daily service back in June 2013 using A340-600 equipment.
