Ad ogni modo copio e incollo dal sito ufficiale dell'aeroporto:
Runway operation
Václav Havel Airport Prague generally use (for take-offs and landings) runway 06/24 in so called west operation, when there is wind from the west. Under exactly specified circumstances (to be found on: www.rlp.cz /AIS/Aeronautical information/AD 2 Prague airport) it is required to use the runway in opposite direction (from the east) or transfer a part or the whole operation to alternative runway 12/30.
Ho anche scoperto (ma questa è un'altra storia) che prevedono di allungare verso sud una pista esistente in disuso 04/22 in modo da sfruttare due piste quasi parallele
Why parallel runway
Prague Needs a Parallel Runway for its Airport
Currently, the airport must use an auxiliary runway whose operation stresses tens of thousands of Prague and Kladno inhabitants with noise;
Operation on two parallel runways will be more efficient, safer and environmentally friendly;
Today, Prague Airport, is one a leading employers and its significance will grow hand in hand with its further development;
The airport is a key transport hub and has a positive impact on the influx of foreign investment and income from tourism; ceasing airport development would negatively impact the economic situation of the entire Czech Republic;
Without an additional runway, Prague will soon cease being able to satisfy growing passengers demand for air transport.
Technical parameters
Construction Length of the Runway:
3,550 m
Construction Width of the Runway:
45 m (with the highest bearing capacity)
60 m (basic)
75 m (including side-stripes)
Runway Stripe:
length 3,670 m
width 300 m
The Overall Area Necessary for the Construction:
2,761,599 m2
Operational Status:
RWY 06R precision approach navigation system of Category III
RWY 24L precision approach navigation system of Category III
Carriageway:
The carriageway framework in the areas of the extreme bearing demand will be rigid with a cement concrete finish; other parts will have a feldspar finish. The protection layer will be formed by gravel; the foundation layer by gritrock with cement stabilization; the top layer will have a cement concrete or cement tar finish. The overall thickness of the construction will be about one metre.
Location:
The new runway will replace the current runway 04/22 that has for a long time been out of operation and used only for parking of aircraft. The runway will be parallel with the existing runway RWY 06/24 at the distance of 1,525 metres to allow for independent operations of both runways. The operations of runway 12/30 will consecutively be limited to the cases of maintenance, exceptional situations or situations when the runway 06/24 is affected by a very strong side wind.
Technical Equipment:
The radio navigation system of the new runway has been designed to allow the approach and landing of aircraft in both directions even at harsh weather conditions, respectively at zero visibility without any manual interference of the crew. The runway has been designed to also service aircraft of Airbus A380 type.
