"I don't know how and I don't know why, but at some point in the last ten years a regional jet epidemic occured and our average delays grew exponentially, there simply isn't room for all these planes at the same time. So, we are currently number whatever for takeoff, we have shut off the engines. Feel free to use your cell phones at this time to tell your folks you'll be at least an hour late for supper." [un comandante di US a LGA]
"Good evening once again from the flight deck. Unfortunately we are being told by ATC that a ground stop program is in effect for airplanes heading to LGA. The weather there is reported skies clear, with no winds and a leasurely temperature of 75°. Unfortunately there seem to be too many planes trying to go there at the same time, including two of those little airplanes in the line of little airplanes you see off to our right. When you see the line of little airplanes move, it means we have a chance of leaving right after them. In the meantime, all I can do is apologize for the delay and keep you posted." [comandante US a BOS]
