In flight shutdown's are scrutinized industry wide with emphasis on ETOPS programs. When airlines submit for ETOPS approval, they start with 60mins, then get 120, and then 180. We actually have a 207 minute exemption on a certain NRT ATL route. The FAA grants additional time when airlines have proven engine reliability. We would do all we can to prevent a shut down but the engine is stuck in climb power.
