Londra bloccata dalla neve!!

Ciao a tutti, scrivo da Londra dove questa mattina, a causa di 15 cm di neve caduti durante la notte, la città è paralizzata. Non ci sono treni, la metro è parzialmente chiusa e le strade sono tutte innevate.

Io dovevo andare al lavoro a Gatwick questa mattina e il Gatwick Express non funzionava.
Anche la situazione voli a Gatwick sta subendo notevoli ritardi, ma a Heathrow le cose vanno anche peggio.

"A plane has slipped off a taxiway at Heathrow Airport lodging its front wheel in a grassy area.

The snow and ice are being blamed for the incident which happened when the Cyprus Airways flight landed at 0820 GMT and was moving to Terminal 1.

The British Airports Authority (BAA) said passengers are unharmed and were remaining on the aircraft.

A BAA spokesperson said the front wheel of the plane had landed in the grass area and was being removed.

BAA said the aeroplane was the last flight to land before both the runways at the airport were closed due to snow."

In pratica un A330 della Cyprus Airways è finito, durante la fase di rullaggio, fuori dalla taxiway con il ruotino anteriore ed è finito nell'erba.

British Airways ha annunciato che tutti i suoi voli sono cancellati fino alle ore 17

London, the United Kingdom's capital, has been hit by the most severe snowstorm in the last 18 years, causing trouble all over the area. London Heathrow as well as City Airport had to be closed, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton Airports experience serious delays and many flight cancellations.

A Cyprus Airways Airbus A330-200, registration 5B-DBS performing flight CY-332 from Larnaca (Cyprus) to London Heathrow,EN (UK), had landed at Heathrow and already turned off the runway onto the taxiways, when the nose gear skidded off the taxiway and got stuck in a grassy area. No injuries occured, no damages are being reported.

There are media reports (e.g. in Germany) telling, that the airplane skidded off the runway during landing.

British Airways have cancelled all their flights into and out of London area until 17:00 local (17:00Z).

Tutti in questo forum si lamentavano di Milano per la nevicata di circa 1 mese fa, ma a Milano sono caduti 60 cm di neve!!!
A Londra per solo 15 cm di neve è successo il finimondo, che fine ha fatto la mitica organizzazione degli Inglesi??
 
London Stansted Airport closed due to heavy snow - 02/02/2009
Ryanair confirms that no aircraft has landed or departed from Stansted Airport this morning due to weather conditions. Many Ryanair Stansted flights were forced to divert to other airports last night due to the closure of the Stansted runway.

Ryanair will recommence operations from Stansted when these aircraft and crew are able to return to Stansted Airport. At this point, BAA are unable to advise when Stansted will be open for normal operations and Ryanair regrets that the flights listed below have been cancelled.

A Heathrow adesso funziona solo la pista sud, BA ha comunque cancellato tutti i voli di corto e medio raggio, e gli intercontinentali sono tutti stati spostati dopo le 17:00.
