Virgin Atlantic signs up to easyJet connecting-flights scheme
UK budget carrier EasyJet has recruited long-haul operator Virgin Atlantic to its network connection scheme, allowing passengers to transfer to partner airlines at various European airports.
Virgin Atlantic’s involvement enables EasyJet passengers to connect to destinations on its long-haul network from London Gatwick, including Las Vegas, Orlando and the Caribbean.
EasyJet started the scheme – which it calls ‘Worldwide by EasyJet’ – a year ago, initially with WestJet and Norwegian at Gatwick.
It has since opted to expand the programme to Milan Malpensa, Berlin Tegel, Venice, Amsterdam, the two main Paris airports, and Edinburgh. EasyJet has also formed partnerships with Thomas Cook Airlines, Loganair, Corsair and La Compagnie.
Virgin Atlantic chief executive Craig Kreeger says that EasyJet is an “ideal fit” for Virgin Atlantic, given the extent of the budget airline’s network.
EasyJet says it expects to unveil more partners for the scheme “in the coming months”. FG
