. On Mar 22nd 2022 the CAAC held a press conference stating that the search for the black boxes is still underway. No survivors have been found at the crash site, which has two parts, part of the aircraft fell onto one side of a hill and the other part onto the other side. A safety inspection of all Boeing 737s operating in China will be conducted in the next weeks. In detail the CAAC stated: China Eastern Airlines flight MU5735 took off from Kunming at 13:16 on March 21, and entered the Guangzhou control area at a cruising altitude of 8900 meters at 14:17. At 14:20, the controller noticed that the aircraft's was sharply descending and called the crew several times but without reply. At 14:23 the radar signal of the aircraft disappeared. The aircraft was found crashed in Teng County, Wuzhou City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. There were 123 passengers (all Chinese, no foreigner) on board, 3 pilots, 5 flight attendants and 1 safety officer. The aircraft had first flown on Jun 22nd 2015 and had since accumulated 18,239 flight hours in 8,986 flight cycles.

Mode-S data transmitted by the aircraft suggest the aircraft was enroute at 8900 meters/FL291 about 130nm west of Guangzhou at 14:20L (06:20Z) when the aircraft began a rapid descent, the last position from the transponder was received from position N23.34 E111.15 at 3200 feet MSL at 14:23L (06:23Z).

Per quanto sgranate, le immagini del video sembrerebbero mostrare l’aereo integro (anche se Greg Faith mostra un ingrandimento nel quale sembrano distaccarsi pezzi). Sempre i video, ma dell’incendio, sembrano mostrare fuoco troppo vasto per essere concentrato in un punto di impatto limitato. Probabilmente a seguito dell’esplosione pezzi incandescenti hanno esteso le fiamme, ma la prima impressione mia vedendo i video ieri era di uno scenario anomalo, quanto meno dell’incendio rispetto al video della caduta. È da sperare che FDR e CVR siano recuperati e leggibili.

Si vedono dei pezzi di grandezza considerevole per un impatto avvenuto a quella velocità. Nel cratere invece, solo frammenti molto piccoli, non intere sezioni. Tra l'altro il pezzo che viene inquadrato si trova ad una certa distanza dal cratere principale.

Se ti riferisci alle tabelle variometro come quella in prima pagina o agli articoli di ”giornale” da essa derivati, mi fermerei ad un passo precedente. Mi chiederei se davvero è possibile che in 10 s si sia passati da -16k a +4k di variometro ad esempio. Malcontati sono 10g solo sulla verticale. Non credo che una macchina civile e carica possa nemmeno lontanamente sostenere quelle accelerazioni. E doveva avere almeno la parvenza di velivolo ancora visto che ha fatto su e giù diverse volte secondo quei numeri, oltre al fatto che le immagini ce lo danno grosso modo intero fino alla fine. Per come la vedo io quei dati sono molto sballati per diversi motivi e l’abbiamo visto in altre indagini.
Sembra che ci sia un inizio preciso dei problemi, se hanno recuperato una scatola probabilmente ne verranno a capo rapidamente.

Da TOTALE profano. Anni fa lessi in occasione dell'incidente del 767 Egypt Air partito da JFK, che quel tipo di aereoplano era progettato per riprendere automaticamente un assetto orizzontale in caso di picchiata. Possibile che anche il 737 abbia le stesse caratteristiche, ammesso e non concesso che sia vero quello che lessi?
 
Parts of wreckage, human remains and one black boxes recovered

Some human remains and parts of the wreckage of the China Eastern Airlines passenger plane that crashed into a mountain in Guangxi on Monday have been recovered at the crash site, an official told a press briefing on Wednesday.
The wreckage and human remains have been handed over to the investigation team, said Zheng Xi, head of the fire brigade of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, adding that rescuers from the brigade had covered a search area of 46,000 square meters by 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Chinese aviation investigators say they have recovered one of the black box flight recorders from the wreckage of a China Eastern Airlines plane that crashed in southern China on Monday.
The recorders, which capture critical flight data, may offer clues as to why the Boeing 737-800 plummeted from cruise altitude and crashed into a forested hillside near the city of Wuzhou in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
Heavily fortified to survive high-impact crashes such as that of flight MU5735, black boxes capture information including plane performance, pilot input and cockpit audio.
“The exterior of the recovered device is quite damaged and frontline investigators are figuring out if it is the flight data recorder or the cockpit voice recorder,” Mao Yanfeng, director of the Civil Aviation Administration of China’s accident investigation unit, told reporters after the black box was found on Wednesday.
He said the weather at the time of the crash was suitable for flying and the conditions were not dangerous.
“The aircrew had maintained normal communication with air traffic control units since the aircraft took off from Kunming until the sudden drop in altitude, according to communication records,” Mao said.
Speaking at the same press conference, Sun Shiying, chairman of China Eastern Airlines’ Yunnan branch, said the three pilots on board were in good health, “had good conduct and had maintained harmonious relationships with their families”.
He said the plane met the conditions for flying during checks before take-off.
China Eastern grounded its 737-800 fleet after the crash, and Sun said the airline was conducting “a large-scale safety inspection”.
“The grounding of the Boeing 737-800 aircraft does not mean the model has hidden risks, but it is an emergency response after a major accident,” he said, adding that the airline’s operations would not be affected.
CAAC head of aviation safety Zhu Tao on Tuesday said the aircraft had been severely damaged, “making the investigation very difficult”.
“The investigation has just started and it is still impossible to clearly pinpoint the cause of the accident,” Zhu said.

On Mar 24th 2022 the CAAC reported in their 4th press conference, that a large piece of debris (1.3 meters by 0.1 meters) from the aircraft was found 10km away from the crash site (it needs to be pointed out, we don't know whether this separated before or after the dive at this time).
