- Air India has returned to the Italian market after over a decade away with the introduction on 6 June of flights fromDelhi (DEL) to both Milan Malpensa (MXP) and Rome Fiumicino (FCO). Flights will operate daily on a ‘triangle’ basis allowing both non-stop and one-stop services, depending on the day of week. The two routes, which are both around 6,000 kilometres in length, will be served by the airline’s new 787 Dreamliners. Fausto Palombelli, Director of Aviation Marketing Development, Aeroporti di Roma (AdR), said: “The permanent connection to Rome, inaugurated by Air India stresses the importance of the Italian market for the Indian carrier and once more confirms Rome’s attraction. This new flight consolidates and reinforces the development and expansion strategy of flights towards new markets with a high commercial potential that AdR started with success, also thanks to the important infrastructure development works that are raising the quality of services offered in the main national airport.”
