Three weekly services from Paris-Charles de Gaulle to Teheran
Air France is supporting the resumption of commercial exchange with Iran and will serve Teheran from Paris-Charles de Gaulle three times a week (on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) starting in April 2016.
In this way, Air France is illustrating its ambition to expand in a country with buoyant growth, as the European Union is Iran’s fourth most important economic partner.
"With these new route launches, Air France is showing that it is ready to seize all possible profitable development and growth opportunities", said Frédéric Gagey, Chairman and CEO of Air France.
AF738: Leaves Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 10:30, arrives in Teheran at 18:40;
AF755: Leaves Teheran at 7:15, arrives at Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 10:55.
Background of the Paris – Teheran route
On 29 April 1946, Air France launched a scheduled route Paris – Marseille – Tunis – Benghazi - Cairo – Beirut – Baghdad - Teheran, with a flight every two weeks.
The non-stop Paris-Teheran route was suspended in October 2008.

Iran accounts for just 5% of Western Europe-Middle East seats, yet it accounts for 24% of the Middle East population. Air travel between Western Europe and Iran fell annually until 2013, since when growth has returned. Nevertheless, it remains under-developed and the thawing of relations with Iran should provide a significant opportunity.
Preliminary 2016 data from OAG indicate that Iran Air's 36% of seats in this market will keep it above Lufthansa's 27%. However, growth by Lufthansa and Austrian, together with the entry of Eurowings, will rank the Lufthansa group ahead with 46%. The other Iranian airline in this market, Mahan Air, is also set to grow rapidly in summer 2016. From the Western European side, the only other operators are Alitalia and Germania.
The potential for the Western Europeans is clear, although it will take time for demand to evolve to levels that are more consistent with the size of Iran's population (second only to Egypt in the Middle East). Moreover, Turkish Airlines has a widespread presence both in Iran and Western Europe and already offers strong competition in the form of one stop services through Istanbul.

- Air France has resumed flights to Iran after an eight-year hiatus, linking the French and Iranian capitals with a thrice-weekly A330-200-operated service. The 4,194-kilometre route between Paris CDG (CDG) and Tehran Imam Khomeini (IKA) was launched on 17 April, and will face no direct competition. That said, Iranian airline Mahan Air has plans to launch its own services between the two cities in June. Frederic Gagey, the airline’s CEO, spoke of its “great pride in returning to Iran”.

Secondo me la nuova regola che obbliga a richiedere il visto per gli USA se si è stati in Iran farà calare nettamente il traffico turistico...
