airberlin is off to a flying start: new destinations and more flights in Europe as of summer 2016
Next summer airberlin will introduce new destinations as well as additional flights on existing European routes. airberlin will consolidate its presence at both the Berlin and Dusseldorf hubs as it continues to extend its market leadership at these airports. There will be additional flights to Bologna and Sofia, as well as a new service between Dusseldorf and Stockholm. There will be more frequent services to Venice, Florence, Barcelona, Budapest, Gothenburg and Copenhagen. The flights will have ideal links to both hubs, offering a number of connection options new long-haul destinations such as Boston, Dallas, San Francisco and Havana.
"We want to strengthen our competitiveness in Europe with new destination and additional services on major routes. This is the only way to keep ahead of the game, particularly in the important business travel segment. We are clearly focusing on Italy, where we plan to expand our services together with our partner, Alitalia. Our hubs Berlin and Dusseldorf are in the centre of our new network strategy and along with that the improvement of the integration of our flights at both of these. New destinations and more flights to Italy
On 2nd May 2016, airberlin will operate its first service from Dusseldorf to Bologna, offering three flights a day to the new destination. The existing services from Dusseldorf to Venice and Florence will be expanded from one to three flights a day. The flights are expected to be integrated into the existing codeshare agreement with Alitalia shortly.
More travel options to Sweden and Denmark
From 2nd May, airberlin will operate three flights a day from Dusseldorf to Stockholm, thereby offering passengers easy access to the global route network via Dusseldorf. The services from Berlin to Gothenburg and Copenhagen will be expanded to include a fourth daily flight.From
Berlin-Tegel to Eastern Europe: new service to Sofia and more flights to Budapest
From 27th March, airberlin will once again operate flights to the Bulgarian capital, Sofia, from Berlin. The daily flight will supplement the codeshare service with Bulgaria Air, offering passengers two flights a day in future. The service between Berlin-Tegel and Budapest will also be expanded from 27th March to include an additional flight, taking the total to three flights a day.From May, airberlin will also operate two daily flights from Dusseldorf to Barcelona, instead of the current one.
