Honolulu, USA – Island Air ha concluso un ordine per 3 Bombardier Q400. Il primo degli aerei – tutti in leasing da Elix Aviation Capital – è stato ricevuto ieri dal piccolo vettore che opera collegamenti fra le isole delle Hawaii. Gli aerei saranno configurati con 78 posti in classe economica.
Island Air aveva già operato turboelica Bombardier fra il 2006 e il 2012, quando era passata a una flotta composta esclusivamente da ATR72-212. La supposta inaffidabilità degli ATR aveva convinto il vettore a ordinare (marzo 2014) 2 Q400 per convertire nuovamente la flotta al modello canadese. Ancora un anno e Island Air annullò l’ordine, scegliendo di tenere gli ATR – almeno fino a ora. I 3 Bombardier di questo ordine sostituiranno gli aerei italo-francesi.
Per Bombardier si tratta di un’altra modesta vittoria sulla via del risanamento aziendale: oltre a questo di Island Air, nel mese di dicembre il costruttore ha ricevuto ordini da Philippines Airlines e Air Tanzania. Il titolo dell’azienda ha mostrato ulteriori segnali di ripresa, chiudendo lunedì a CAD 2.19: nel febbraio 2016 era sprofondato fino a CAD 0.77. Avendo stabilizzato la propria posizione finanziaria, il gruppo Bombardier potrebbe non aver bisogno di ulteriori aiuti. Si trova, tuttavia, a dover gestire un’istanza presentata dal Brasile al WTO contro gli aiuti erogati in precedenza dal governo del Quebec.
