Laudamotion to market itself as Lauda

Laudamotion is to use a shortened version of its name for marketing purposes.
The Austrian regional carrier says the name Lauda will be used in external communications. However, the company name remains unchanged.
As part of its marketing efforts, the Ryanair-owned airline is repainting a number of its jets so that by July its entire fleet of 23 Airbus A320s will display the Lauda livery.
The Vienna-based carrier says crew will wear new red-and-white uniforms intended to underline Lauda's "Austrian charm".
Like defunct carrier Niki, assets of which it acquired last year, Laudamotionwas founded by former Formula 1 racing driver Niki Lauda. He had sold Nikito Air Berlin before reacquiring elements following that carrier's collapse.
Ryanair acquired a 25% stake in Laudamotion later in 2018 and gained full control of it earlier this year. FG

Ryanair resurrects Buzz brand for Polish airline operation

Ryanair*is to resurrect the ‘Buzz’ airline brand later this year, using it for its newly-established Polish operation*Ryanair Sun.

The airline says it will rebrand*Ryanair Sun, which was set up last year, with the new identity being introduced from autumn.

Ryanair Sun*flies under a Polish air operator’s certificate and uses a fleet of 17 Boeing 737-800s.

The Buzz brand was acquired by*Ryanairwhen it took over*KLM UK*budget airline operating under this name in April 2003.

It was originally incorporated into a new*Ryanair*subsidiary, Buzz*Stansted, which operated services using a fleet of 737s and British Aerospace 146s.

Ryanair has since established a new UK operation, Ryanair UK, with its own air operator’s certificate, as part of its efforts to prepare for the country’s departure from the European Union.

The Buzz brand name is to be revived with the Polish operation and Buzz will become one of the four carriers within Ryanair Holdings – alongside Ryanair itself,*Laudamotion, and Ryanair UK.

Ryanair Sun*chief executive Michal Kaczmarzyk says the fleet will have a “new and unique branding” when Buzz is launched.

“Our goal is to offer services at the highest level to both customers and tour operators,” he adds.

Buzz will operate scheduled and charter flights and Ryanair aims to expand its fleet to 25 aircraft by summer this year.

A320 ex-Thomas Cook verso Laudamotion

Ryanair in talks with lessors to introduce ex-Thomas Cook A320s

Ryanair is negotiating with leasing companies affected by Thomas Cook's demise to take over several Airbus jets for use by its Austrian subsidiary Lauda.
Speaking at a briefing hosted by Thomson Reuters in London today, Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary said the plan was to boost Lauda's fleet for the summer 2020 schedule.
The number of aircraft would depend on asset pricing and company's capacity to recruit and train pilots ahead of the summer season, he says.
Lauda's fleet comprises 21 Airbus A320ceos, a mixture of CFM International CFM56- and International Aero Engines V2500-powered aircraft, Cirium fleets data shows.
Beyond Thomas Cook's fleet, O'Leary sees opportunity to increase the Ryanair group's A320 fleet with second-hand aircraft.
He says "lots of leasing companies are taking back 8-10-year-old Ceos" as airlines introduce A320neos.
Ryanair is in talks with both Boeing and Airbus about possible future aircraft orders for delivery beyond its existing fleet plan, which runs until 2024. But O'Leary concedes that discussions with Airbus are "not going very fast".
He currently sees "no pricing opportunity" with either airframer as Boeing concentrates on returning the 737 Max to service while Airbus ramps up production to deliver its A320neo backlog.
As "pricing is up" at both airframers, he says that Ryanair will "have to wait until the next turn of the cycle".
Cirium fleets data shows that Ryanair, its UK division, its Polish subsidiary Buzz, and Malta Air together have 456 737NGs in service.
The group has 135 Max 8s on order and holds options on a further 75.Cirium/FG
