AEROLINEAS ARGENTINAS WILL EXPAND ITS NETWORK AND INCREASE FLIGHTS DURING 2014
The operational Plan of Aerolineas Argentinas and Austral for 2014 expected changes in its network with an increase of 22 percent in trading, compared with this year, and 26 percent more in the supply of seats.
This growth is based on the significant increase in frequencies and the opening of new routes and destinations.
The main objective of the expansion of the operations of Aerolíneas Argentinas is to improve connectivity and contribute to integration and economic and social development of the country, promoting the country as a tourist destination, cultural and business.
Between January and March of 2014 the operating Plan includes the opening of new routes of cabotage are: Aeroparque/Mendoza/Cordoba/Jujuy; Aeroparque/Trelew/Viedma/Aeroparque; Aeroparque/San Rafael/Santa Rosa/Aeroparque; Ezeiza/Bariloche/Mendoza; Ezeiza/Bariloche/Calafate; Cordoba/Bariloche/Ezeiza and Aeroparque/Paraná.
In terms of regional operations Aerolineas and Austral, 1 ° of January 2014, began to fly the routes Aeroparque / Salvador de Bahia and also Ezeiza / Florianópolis; from March 1, a new frequency is added to Santa Cruz de la Sierra (this from Aaeroparque, reaching two daily flights, one from Ezeiza and the other from Aeroparque), from April 1 it adds a new daily frequency to Porto Alegre (also from Aeroparque, reaching two daily flights, one from Ezeiza and another from Aeroparque), and from 1 March begins to operate a new destination: Curitiba.
This operational Plan for 2014 is based on the expansion of the fleet and in the most efficient use of those resources which generate a monthly increase of the block times to fly, of 21.161 operated in 2013 will become 24.078 hours per month next year.
In this way, only in operations from the Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, the airline group will operate almost 130 daily departures, which is an all-time record for the company.
On Inrernational flights a weekly increased of frequencies which will go from 48 in October 2013 to 61 in October 2014. This growth highlights the opening of the route to New York from the 15 of December 2013 and increased frequencies to Europe. Barcelona and Rome will have daily flights from July 1.
Also increasing frequencies to Caracas, to have a daily flight from April onwards.
The decision to reinforce the operations with these last destinations is given by the significant growth in the tourist market with the United States and Europe, and the great potential which is recorded, also from neighbours such as Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile to those destinations.
This is also possible due to the increase and modernization of the fleet of long range and the ability to suplement other destinations, such as Oceania, from the first of April, with flights operated by other companies belonging to the Sky Team Alliance along with Aerolineas Argentinas.
These modifications allow to improve the international network, flying more frequencies to destinations with more demand, with better aircraft, newer and a better product. In effect as of April 1 significantly low demand for tickets to Sydney and resulting in a rise of very important traffic to and from Europe, reason why the increase of frequencies to Barcelona and Rome, to have a daily frequency.
They also allow a better use of resources and crew. The flight to Sydney requires many flying hours and days of rest for crew, which
Increases the requirement of additional crew and resources required to operate that route. When the international network is modified in this way, more number of frequencies to the most popular destinations with the same resources, can be operated which improves productivity by increasing the flying hours of crew.
On the other hand, in the medium term it is expected to deprogram the aircraft that is used to operate flights to Sydney. Airbus 340-200 will be replaced and the company will not have the aircraft required to fly non stop from BUE-SYD, and to include a stop makes these flights a more expensive route. The A330 (twin-engined) cannot be used on the “Transpola route”. To keep the non stop route , it would be necessary to incorporate a unique fleet, that violates the homogenization and efficiency provided for in the business plan.
To this we must add:
-the poor economic performance of the BUE-SYD flight,
-the existence of alternatives to maintain connectivity with Oceania through other international carriers that are still flying with a more appropriate product/connectivity for the route.
-Australia as a destination is not a target most chosen by the Argentines, it ranks 50 on preference.
-It is not a route that brings tourists to our country, 51% of the passengers are connecting, or traveling beyond Australia and Argentina. 45% Of the total are passengers in connection with other South American countries.
-operation at Sydney is weight restricted to 20% of seats in the greater part of the year in order to operate Non Stop flight, for operational reasons. This number increases depending on climate conditions such as strong winds, which makes it an even more inefficient.
Ultimately, all these changes in the network were made possible thanks to the renovation and expansion of the fleet, comprised of 3 families of aircraft, Airbus, 330 and 340 for the wide body and Boeing 737 and Embraer 190 for narrow fuselage.
The new flag carrier fleet allows us to offer its passengers a quality public service, with in-flight entertainment, comfortable seating, and everything you need to provide a superior travel experience.
It is with pride to be able to announce these changes that fundamentally satisfy our passengers.
