London Gatwick new addition to Lufthansa programme
06.07.11
From October twice-daily non-stop service from Frankfurt / Roundtrip fares from as little as 99 euros
This winter Lufthansa is launching flights to London Gatwick, the airline’s eighth destination in the United Kingdom. With the introduction of the new winter timetable on 30 October 2011, the German flag carrier will serve the UK’s second-largest airport twice daily, connecting it with Frankfurt and thus to Lufthansa’s global network. The route will be operated by a Boeing B737-500 with 120 seats in Business and Economy Class.
With its excellent links to Central London, Gatwick is ideally located for both business and leisure travellers. Gatwick Express trains depart from South Terminal every 15 minutes and take 30 minutes to Victoria station near Buckingham Palace. “The new service to a third London airport will enable us to offer an attractive alternative for passengers flying to London,” said Kay Kratky, a member of the Lufthansa German Airlines Board. “The city’s second-largest airport will also be of interest to leisure travellers who wish to visit the south of England and its impressive coastline.” With the introduction of flights to Gatwick, Lufthansa will increase its weekly services from Germany to the UK to 455. This winter, in addition to London Heathrow, London Gatwick and London City, Lufthansa’s UK route network will encompass Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
Lufthansa is offering its attractive introductory European fare of 99 euros for flights from Frankfurt to London Gatwick. This fare applies in Economy Class and is inclusive of all taxes, fees and the Lufthansa Ticket Service Charge of 10 euros for online bookings at
