Eurowings Outlines Planned Operation in W15
Eurowings, the long-haul arm of Lufthansa Group’s germanwings, today (04MAR15) announced the launch of operation from November 2015, at the first day of ITB Berlin. The airline will launch operation from 02NOV15, with 2 weekly flights each to Varadero, Punta Cana, Phuket, Dubai and Bangkok Don Mueang.
The airline will be operating Airbus A330-200 aircraft in 3 sections – BEST Section, More Comfort Area and BASIC/SMART Section. The BEST Section features the industry’s largest seat pitch (in terms of long-haul low-cost carrier’s equivalent offering) of 45″ with 21 seats. The “More Comfort” features 46 seats with 34″ seat pitch while “BASIC/SMART” section includes 243 seats of 30″ seat pitch.

Eurowings will start serving Dubai from 99.99 euros ($111) one-way on special introductory fares, Karl Ulrich Garnadt, who heads Lufthansa’s passenger business, said at a presentation in Berlin Wednesday. The planes, operated by the company’s SunExpress joint venture with Turkish Airlines, will initially also serve Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand, as well as Varadero in Cuba and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, Garnadt said.
Eurowings will offer “affordable ticket prices and an attractive route network,” Garnadt said. The venture will start out with promotions and raise prices later, he said.
Starting a low-priced offering to Dubai, the most popular long-haul destination from both Frankfurt and Munich, Lufthansa’s main German hubs, is a shift of strategy. Lufthansa had been pulling out of routes that faced too much competition, deciding in October to end service to Abu Dhabi after Etihad Airways had increased capacity to the city through Air Berlin Plc, its minority-owned German partner.
Eurowings’ long-haul service will start with two Airbus Group NV A330-200 planes seating 310 from October from Cologne airport and that fleet will eventually grow to seven, Garnadt said. It will copy the price model introduced by the company’s Germanwings unit with a “basic, smart and best” fare.

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Lufthansa (LHAG.DE) and travel group TUI (TUIT.L) plan to cooperate on flights to remote tourist spots when the German airline's new long-haul budget carrier Eurowings starts services later this year, the companies said on Friday.
Trying to cut costs and compete with budget carriers such as Ryanair (RYA.I) and Gulf operators including Emirates, Lufthansa will offer flights to tourist destinations like Cuba and Thailand under the Eurowings banner from Oct. 25.
A spokeswoman for Lufthansa said that marketing of Eurowings flights had "started off quite well", prompting the carrier to strike a deal to lease a Boeing 767 aircraft with crew from TUI for the 2015/16 winter season.
German daily newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) earlier cited industry sources as saying TUI had agreed to book Eurowings seats for a "substantial portion" of its tourists travelling long-distance, which neither company confirmed.
Lufthansa is battling to remain competitive against budget carriers such as Ryanair (RYA.I) and easyJet (EZJ.L) and Gulf operators including Emirates, Etihad and Qatar on lucrative long-haul routes.
Its plan to expand Eurowings, where costs are 40 percent below those of Lufthansa-branded operations, have met fierce resistance from pilots, who staged their 14th strike since April on Friday, grounding 700 flights and stranding thousands of passengers.

The first flight from Cologne to Puerto Plata in the Caribbean will take off on 7 November 2015. Flights will depart from Cologne once a week, on Saturdays, and head for one of the most attractive travel destinations in the Caribbean. Tickets are already available from € 229.99.
The port city of Puerto Plata is situated on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic. The old part of the city, dating from colonial times, serves as a charming focal point. Puerto Plata is an ideal starting point for numerous resorts with pristine beaches along the Amber Coast. The city has a wide range of cultural attractions for visitors as well.
Eurowings is also increasing its number of flights to Dubai and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Tickets have been on sale from € 99.99 since the beginning of March. Due to strong demand, the new Eurowings will fly to Punta Cana three times a week from 7 November 2015. There will now also be three flights a week to Dubai from 17 December 2015. Tickets for Dubai can be purchased from € 99.99, while prices for Punta Cana start at € 229.99.

Infatti. Gli aerei saranno sotto l'AOC di quest'ultima. Io direi piuttosto notare come lo sticker sia sulla porta e in basso. Della serie lo devi mettere ma facciamo si veda il meno possibile
