American Airlines Launches New Service Between Miami And Milan
New Service Connects Milan to Key Destinations in the U.S., Caribbean and Latin America

FORT WORTH, Texas, May 30, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- American Airlines today announces daily nonstop service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Malpensa Airport (MXP) in Milan - further strengthening American's position as a premier provider of international travel to Europe. Through American's extensive network out of Miami, customers traveling from Milan will now have access to more than 100 destinations throughout the United States, Caribbean and Latin America. Customers can begin booking travel on the new route June 2, for travel beginning Nov. 21.

Daily MIA-MXP Service Schedule (all times local)

-- Departs MIA at 5:55 p.m. ET

-- Arrives at MXP at 9:35 a.m. CET the following day

-- Departs MXP at 11:25 a.m. CET

-- Arrives at MIA at 4:40 p.m. ET

The new service between Miami and Milan will be operated as part of American's joint business agreement with British Airways and Iberia. Through the airlines' enhanced relationship, American's customers have access to more than 125 destinations throughout Europe. In addition to the new service from Miami, American also currently serves MXP from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York. The new route will be operated with a Boeing 767-300 with 218 seats.

Nel giorno in cui ricorrono i 5 anni dall'avvio del Malpensa-New York, l'American annuncia il lancio della rotta verso il Golfo del Messico, nuova "porta" anche per i Caraibi e il Sudamerica


Un nuovo volo per gli Stati Uniti, verso il sole della Florida: l'American Airlines ha annunciato oggi a Malpensa l'avvio il prossimo autunno del collegamento giornaliero per Miami, una destinazione che è anche "porta" per i Caraibi e il Sudamerica, anche grazie all'alleanza del gigante americano con British Airways e Iberia. Il volo sarà in vendita dal 2 giugno (operato con 777-300), ma l'annuncio è stato dato anche nel giorno del 5° anniversario del collegamento Malpensa-New York, avviato appunto dall'American nel 2008. «Allora era una scommessa, in qualche modo. Ma negli ultimi anni abbiamo avuto aumento del 20% dei passeggeri business, la metà - quindi il 10% - sono italiani» ha ricordato Roberto Antonucci, responsabile vendite dell'American per l'area Sud-Est Europa, intervenuto alla presenza di Craig Dewey, Regional Manager European Sales Planning di American. «Il miglior modo per ringraziare tutte le persone che hanno contribuito al successo di questa rotta è proprio l'introduzione di questo nuovo ed entusiasmante servizio per Miami». L'aspetto è sottolineato anche dal commento di Giuseppe Bonomi, presidente di Sea: «È un ulteriore segnale di fiducia nei confronti del nostro aeroporto che dà seguito alla strategia scelta già lo scorso anno da American Airlines con l'aumento anche nella stagione invernale dei collegamenti per New York»

Un collegamento importante anche perché Miami è un importante mercato per la moda (e quindi strategico per Milano) nonché sede di una folta comunità italiana. Tra gli altri aspetti importanti, c'è anche il fatto che Miami è un punto di transito verso Caraibi e Sudamerica, in questo contando American anche sul network di destinazioni di British e Iberia. Antonucci ha specificato infatti che si valuta nel «65-70%» la quota di viaggiatori diretti a Miami, mentre gli altri potrebbero proseguire su altre città (tra le destinazioni da Miami ci sono anche aeroporti Usa, come New Orleans o Tampa). Tra Miami e Milano ci si aspetta un traffico di 80mila passeggeri l'anno.
