Wizz Air expands its Bucharest base - New flights to Brussels, Milan and Cluj
Wizz Air, the largest CEE based low fare - low cost airline announced today that it would expand its operations from Bucharest in Romania starting from 28 February 2008. As announced previously the carrier will base the second new A320 aircraft in Bucharest and in addition to the flights already on sale will commence services to Cluj-Napoca, Brussels Charleroi and Milan-Bergamo.
With these new routes Wizz Air will fly an extensive network of ten destinations from the Romanian capital just a year after its inaugural flight. The Bucharest-Cluj flight will become Romania's only low fare domestic service.
The domestic service to Cluj will be operated 4 times a week, while the flights to Milan and Brussels will be launched with 3 weekly frequencies initially. The new flights are already on sale on wizzair.com and via Wizz Air’s call center (+40 3 6440 2000) with fares starting from as low as RON 49 for Cluj and RON 69 (EUR 19.99) for the other flights all inclusive.
"Wizz Air has become the largest international low cost airline in Romania within less than a year since EU accession by stimulating new air traffic with low fares and the travel experience of new aircraft. The new routes to Belgium and Italy will attract even more passengers who want to travel efficiently and economically. We are especially proud to offer the Wizz experience to domestic travellers by opening the Bucharest-Cluj service. I would also note that Wizz Air's young A320 aircraft constitute one of the most fuel efficient short haul fleet of the world giving us a distinctive competitive advantage in today's fuel price environment."- said József Váradi, Chief Executive Officer of Wizz Air.
