AA la prima compagnia aerea a testare le winglets sui 767-300ER!!
American Airlines flies B767 winglets
Aviation Partners Boeing has started testing of its blended winglets for the Boeing 767-300ER. An aircraft belonging to the launch customer American Airlines is being used for the trials. Certification of the modification in the US and Europe for both passenger and freight variants of the B767 is expected in November 2008.

L'ultima versione del 773ER (così come anche il nuovo 787 Dreamliner) ha già il profilo alare modificato rispetto alle precedenti versioni, arrotondato alle estremità che credo abbia la stessa funzione delle winglets per i 737, 757 e 767.
Tuttavia non so se per le versioni precedenti del 777 hanno in progetto di modificare i profili alari così come per le ultime.

Qualche giorno fa su SKY NatGeo c'era una bella bella puntata su MegastruttureConnection e affrontavano la costruzione del A380, e han dato molto molto spazio alle WindJet spiegando tutto su loro, e dicendo chiaramente che senza quelle l'A380 non avrebbe mai volato!
Willy... si chiamano "winglets"...
WindJet è la nota compagnia aerea italiana...

Secondo me riequipaggiano l'intera flotta di 767 con le winglets, così come hanno fatto per i 757... dobbiamo solo aspettare!Era ora...grazie della segnalazione! Speriamo di vederlo presto a mxp

American Airlines on Sunday operated the first revenue flight with an Aviation Partners Boeing blended winglet-equipped 767-300ER.
AA Flight 78 left Dallas/Fort Worth Sunday evening and arrived at London Heathrow yesterday morning.
AA plans to install winglets on each of its 58 -300ERs by 2011 and expects to save up to 500,000 gal. of fuel per aircraft each year, depending in mileage.
Winglets were installed at AA's Kansas City maintenance base.
The airline's 124 757s and 77 737s already fly with winglets.

Grazie mille per questi due scatti! Davvero un belli questi winglets.. Pensavo servissero solamente per migliorare la stabilità e qualcosina sui consumi.. ma non mi aspettavo che migliorassero di così tanto la resistenza aerodinamica! Sicuramente tagliano l'aria meglio, risparmiando anche molta energia sulle forze agenti opposte.
