New cabin design and first-class seats to debut on more than 200 narrowbody aircraft
On Thursday, United unveiled a new custom-designed first-class seat, which will debut on an Airbus A319 next week, with retrofits on A319s, A320s and many Boeing 737s and 757s through 2016.
This new seat is one of several significant upgrades United is making to its aircraft interiors, including larger overhead bins and more in-seat power outlets plus custom details unique to our aircraft like new carpets, galley flooring and many other signature brand elements. These upgrades will present a modern and clean design as well as a more consistent experience across our customers’ entire journey.
United began designing the new first-class seats more than two years ago, inviting certain Premier customers to tell the company what amenities they were looking for on board and giving feedback on seat prototypes.
The new, wider 21.1-inch first-class seats feature several elements to improve customers’ experience, including:
• A patented-design tray table with tablet holder, enabling travelers to enjoy food and beverages while using their personal electronic devices;
• An articulating seat bottom for greater comfort when reclining and an adjustable headrest;
• In-seat universal A/C power outlets for customers to charge their devices;
• Additional in-seat storage, including two seatback pockets and side stowage for laptops and tablets.
Each aircraft will continue to have the same number of premium-cabin seats.
As installing the new seats, United is also installing in-seat power in Economy Plus.
