More United Polaris retrofits enter service

We continue to retrofit our aircraft with our United Polaris business class seats, and more are on the way in 2018, bringing the full United Polaris experience to even more customers.
We currently have three retrofitted Boeing 767-300s in service. The remodeled 767s also feature larger overhead bins, power at every row and new lavatories.
The first of the retrofitted Boeing 777-200s will be rolling out early next year.
A total of 14 of our new Boeing 777-300ERs are currently in service, flying routes like EWR-TLV (Tel Aviv, Israel), SFO-AKL (Auckland, New Zealand), EWR-NRT and SFO-FRA (Frankfurt).
We’ll be taking delivery of an additional four 777-300ERs in 2018.

United announces $3 billion share repurchasing program
United announced today that the Board of Directors of parent company, United Continental Holdings, Inc., authorized a new $3 billion share repurchase program. This amount represents approximately 17 percent of the company's market capitalization based on the closing stock price on Dec. 6, 2017.
“We continue to invest in our employees, our customer experience and the growth of our business. Returning cash to our shareholders reflects the strength of our balance sheet and the confidence we have in our future,” said EVP and Chief Financial Officer Andrew Levy.
"We expect to complete our most recently authorized July 2016 $2 billion share repurchase program by the end of December 2017. Our share repurchases under today’s $3 billion repurchase authorization will be made in accordance with applicable securities laws in open market, or accelerated repurchase transactions from time to time, depending on market conditions, and may be discontinued at any time. There is no expiration date for the share repurchase program."

Improving travel technology

Enjoy enhanced travel tools and expanded entertainment.

We know that top-notch digital technology provides a more convenient travel experience on the ground and in the air, so we’ll continue investing in enhancements. In 2018, we’ll debut important improvements to united.com and a new version of the United app, providing more features in our award-winning, easy-to-use format. And, we’re adding free personal device entertainment to all flights currently equipped with DIRECTV® — which means all flights with at least 70 seats will have at least one free entertainment option available.

Enhancing your Wi-Fi experience

We’re giving you faster and more reliable inflight Wi-Fi.

We recognize the need for faster and more reliable inflight Wi-Fi, so we’re making this a priority. We’ve started upgrading the hardware and software on board our aircraft to increase the internet bandwidth available and more seamlessly transition between satellites, which means fewer gaps in coverage and fewer connection drops. On the first ten aircraft with the new technology, our customers were able to consume 40% more data than before. As we look to the future, we’re finalizing our plans for next-generation satellite Wi-Fi that will have even more bandwidth, allowing customers to stream video in flight.

Bringing you United Polaris®

More United Polaris seats and lounges will be available.

This year, we’ll be introducing more of the new, all-aisle-access seats in United Polaris business class. We’re also opening United Polaris lounges in San Francisco, New York/Newark and Houston Intercontinental this summer, and in Los Angeles this fall. In all of these lounges, plus the recently expanded lounge in Chicago O’Hare, United Polaris customers will enjoy high-end shower suites, rest pods with day beds, and preflight dining. United is the only U.S. airline to offer a full preflight dining room for its business class customers

Modernizing United Club℠ locations

We’re refreshing and overhauling our spaces throughout the U.S.

We’ve been working hard on our United Club locations, with refreshed or entirely overhauled locations opening in Chicago O’Hare (at Gate C16), Dallas/Fort Worth, Fort Lauderdale, Houston Intercontinental, New York LaGuardia and San Francisco in 2018. Plus, with renovations at additional locations, United Club spaces will be better than ever.

We look forward to telling you more about these initiatives and others in the months ahead. On behalf of all 90,000 United team members, thank you for choosing to fly with us. We value your loyalty and remain committed to being the best airline for you.

Sincerely,
Oscar Munoz

DEN-LHR service begins
"Our newest transatlantic route launched on Saturday, as a Boeing 787-8 departed DEN for LHR (London Heathrow) amid much fanfare on both sides of the pond.
Employees joined DEN VP Steve Jaquith, Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock, Denver International Airport CEO Kim Day and other local dignitaries on Saturday afternoon at a gate celebration before the inaugural flight boarded. The flight arrived at LHR on Sunday morning, where more festivities took place prior to the return trip to DEN, with remarks from Atlantic and Pacific Sales VP Marcel Fuchs, U.K. and Ireland Sales Managing Director Bob Schumacher, Heathrow Airport Chief Commercial Officer Ross Baker and Denver City Council Member Stacie Gilmore.
At DEN, Steve spoke to the importance of this route to our more than 7,000 employees who live and work in the Denver area. “On behalf of all of the United employees, we share the excitement with the Denver community as we inaugurate our new service between Denver and London Heathrow today,” he said. “We’re looking forward to providing our customers with more convenient one-stop options from markets that are served only through Denver and are thankful to have the support of the city as we continue to grow at Denver International.”

On the LHR side, Bob expressed excitement on behalf of U.K. travelers who now have better access to more parts of North America. “Denver is a wonderful and vibrant city, serving as the gateway to the Rockies,” he said. “Our new flight strengthens our international route network and provides our U.K. customers with greater travel choice, with over 50 nonstop connections from Denver to other destinations across the U.S., Mexico and Canada.”

DEN-LHR will operate daily through October 26. As noted in a release issued Saturday by Denver International Airport, roughly 500 passengers travel between DEN and LHR each day, making it Denver’s largest long-haul market and second-largest international market in terms of customer demand. Interestingly, with the addition of LHR, we are the first airline to operate nonstop service from DEN to cities in both Europe and Asia."

Grazie! Speravo di provare la nuova Polaris questa estate, tocca aspettare ancora un po'... :-)
