Turkish Airlines Boeing 777-300ER Suffers Fuselage Damage After Hitting Antenna Tower At Antalya
By Bradley Wint - Jun 12, 2026
A Turkish Airlines Boeing 777-300ER (registered TC-LKD) was operating flight TK2430 from Istanbul (IST) to Antalya (AYT). After safely landing at Antalya, the aircraft’s right wing struck a ground radar antenna during taxi, resulting in the tower collapsing and impacting the aircraft’s fuselage.
According to local reports, the aircraft turned onto a taxiway with a wingspan restriction not approved for a Boeing 777, resulting it the aircraft coming into contact with the tower. All 267 passengers and crew members on board were accounted for with no injuries to report, but there was visibly significant damage to the right wing and rear section of the fuselage.
In a statement Turkish Airlines said, “Our Boeing 777 aircraft, registered as TC-LKD, which operated flight TK2430 from Istanbul to Antalya, made contact with the ground radar antenna pole with its right wing while maneuvering to the parking position at Antalya Airport. All 267 passengers on our aircraft have been safely evacuated, and we have received information that the health condition of one passenger who sustained minor injuries is good. A technical investigation regarding the incident has been initiated.”
The 17-year-old aircraft first joined the Turkish fleet in May 2023 and was one of two (the other being TC-LKE) leased to India’s IndiGo for almost three years, operating flights between Delhi–Istanbul and Mumbai–Istanbul. Both aircraft were returned to Turkish Airlines in March 2026. TC-LKD still retains the IndiGo livery with the exception of the titles being removed, and was brought back into active service for Turkish, while TC-LKE still remains parked.
In the FlightRadar24 track photo, you can see the close proximity of the antenna based on the shadow being cast onto the taxiway. It’s unclear if the taxi way mix up was as a result of incorrect ATC instructions or the pilots not following the correct line, but ideally, the crew should have taken the center taxiway line (highlighted red) rather than the one on the very right. The taxiways also have visible markings denoting the maximum allowed total wingspan for that taxiway.
