Hi gents,
on Thursday last week we were able to visit Florennes AB in Belgium for the next TLP flying course 2007-5.
As the weatherforecast was more as perfect, with plenty of sunshine and what was more important with plenty of blue sky too!!!
First we covered the departure at the end of Runway 09, and moved afterwards to the final section Rwy 09 opposite where we were in the morning.
Luckily mostly all participants flew on the day, only a JBG 31"B" Tornado and one F-4F of the JG 71"R" didnt participate in that mission.
During the departure phase we were able to witness an unusual moment when one of the JG 71"Richthofen" Phantoms had a compressor stall during take-off!
When suddenly after he pulled up a loud "boooooooooooooooommmmmmmmm" was heard followed by a huge flame of the engines - man that was a surprise!
Everyone at the fence was more as happy that nothing happend beside the "huge" flame out of the J-79 engines.. and that the F-4 could still fly the mission without any
problems.
Ok enough of my blabla... hope you like my first impressions from a great day in Florennes on that greaty sunny day.
Cheers,
Mick
