SW Italia (Milan Malpensa) took delivery of its maiden aircraft, a B747-400(F) 4K-SW800 (msn 29729), on Saturday, January 10.
A joint venture between Italian investors Ignacio Coraci and Francesco Rebaudo (58% in total) and Azerbaijan's Silk Way Airlines (ZP, Baku) (42%), SW Italia is set to secure its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) from Italy's civil aviation authority (L'Ente Nazionale per L'Aviazione Civile - ENAC) in the coming weeks following which it will commence scheduled cargo flights between its Milan Malpensa hub and Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok via Baku.
Other upcoming destinations include Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, and the United States.
