Che tipo di mercato ci sarà su questa rotta? Etnico? A livello turistico c'è qualcosa di interessante da vedere a Plovdiv?
Si, è una bella cittadina con molti resti romani e traci (essendo stata Filippopoli la capitale della Tracia) e casette tipiche in stile rinascita bulgara. Nei dintorni c'è anche il monastero di Bachkovo. Certo, in uno massimo due giorni si vede tutto...
Ryanair la spaccia come ski-route....peccato che l'attrezzatura la si paghi £40 a tratta.
Sicuramente, ci sarà anche mercato etnico derivante dagli espatriati bulgari in UK ma pure per coloro che hanno acquistato/affittato una casa nelle località sciistiche come Pamporovo, Bansko, Borovets etc...
Plovdiv ospitava molti ski-charter da UK/Irlanda nelle passate stagioni invernali, ma ora sono perlopiù operati da/per lo scalo di Sofia.
A PDV continuano comunque ad arrivare ski-charter da Russia, Irlanda, Danimarca etc..
Per raggiungere Chepelare e Pamporovo è molto più comodo PDV che SOF.
Per quel che ricordo dalla mia visita di Sofia, Plovdiv dovrebbe essere ad un centinaio di km circa, quindi vendibile come "sofia" per FR. In ogni caso sono sicuro che dalla capitale organizzassero moltissime gite in giornata a Plovdiv

The world’s largest low-cost airline, the Irish company Ryanair, has announced the launching of a new route from London Stansted to the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv.
“Plovdiv is Bulgaria’s second largest city with a rich and varied history dating back 8,000 years. Plovdiv makes a great city break destination and is also within easy access of the ski resorts of Bansko and Pamporovo.” a spokesperson of Ryanair has said.
According to the marketing manager of Ryanair Laszlo Tamas, the new London Stansted-Plovdiv airline will draw about 30 000 passengers annually, whose number could go up to 200 000 by 2013.
The first flight of the new route will take place on November 2, 2010; the Ryanair flights from London Stansted to Plovdiv will be available twice a week.
Tamas said in the future Ryanair will increase the number of flights to Plovdiv, and will also consider the opening of lines from Bulgaria to Spain and Italy, where there are large numbers of Bulgarian immigrants.
The Plovdiv Airport, whose renovation in 2009 cost BGN 45 M, will prepare for meeting the Ryanair requirements in the months before November.
One-way Ryanair fares for Plovdiv will start from GBP 32.99 including taxes.

Da BLQ, vedrei però molto meglio altre destinazioni come Berlino, Eindhoven, Goteborg o Crotone.
