Oggi è emersa questa notizia inaspettata sui siti di settore e sul sito di QR stessa.

Inaspettata perché quello che era il CEO di QR finì a ieri, era in carica a malapena da due anni.

Del nuovo CEO non si sa nulla, se non che proviene da Biella…😂


Qatar Airways Group Appoints Mr. Hamad Ali Al-Khater as Group Chief Executive Officer

DOHA, Qatar – Qatar Airways Group today announced the appointment of Mr. Hamad Ali Al‑Khater as Group Chief Executive Officer, effective Sunday, 7 December 2025. Mr. Al‑Khater succeeds Engr. Badr Mohammed Al‑Meer.

Mr. Al-Khater joins Qatar Airways Group from Hamad International Airport, where he has served as Chief Operating Officer. In that role, he was responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of airport operations, while leading its strategic direction, operational excellence, infrastructure expansion, and the continuous enhancement of passenger experience.

Prior to his tenure at Hamad International Airport, Mr. Al-Khater held senior roles across QatarEnergy, driving business development, deal execution, and leading large-scale strategic and operational initiatives.

Hamad Ali Al‑Khater appointed Qatar Airways CEO​

Hamad Ali Al‑Khater has been appointed Qatar Airways CEO as of today (December 7, 2025), succeeding Badr Mohammed Al-Meer. Keep in mind that Al-Meer was only appointed CEO of Qatar Airways in late 2023, replacing longtime CEO Akbar Al Baker, who had been leading the airline for 27 years.

Al-Khater joins Qatar Airways from Hamad International Airport, where he served as Chief Operating Officer, responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of airport operations, while leading the airport’s strategic direction, operational excellence, infrastructure expansion, and the improvement of passenger experience. Interestingly, the outgoing CEO was also Chief Operating Officer of the airport before being appointed CEO of the airline.

Prior to his tenure at Hamad International Airport, Al-Khater held senior roles across QatarEnergy, driving business development, deal execution, and leading large-scale strategic and operational initiatives.

Interessante notare come entrambi i CEO - quello uscente e quello entrante - vengano da un passato all'autorita' aeroportuale, HIA. In giro dicono che il CEO uscente, al Meer, fosse troppo "prudente", ossia non abbastanza ambizioso in materia di espansione.
