REZA TALEGHANI APPOINTED PRESIDENT
AND CEO OF STERLING AIRLINES

The Board of Directors of Sterling Airlines A/S announced it has appointed Mr. Reza Taleghani to
serve as the company’s president and chief executive officer, succeeding Mr. Almar Örn Hilmarsson
who has led the company for the last two and a half years. Mr. Taleghani most recently spent the last
ten years with JPMorgan in New York and London focusing on the airline industry on an
international scale.
“We are very pleased to get Reza on board to lead Sterling to the next level on its future growth
path. Reza’s extensive experience within the airline industry, both from the strategic as well as the
financial perspective, is very valuable for the company. Sterling has come a long way in its
development and builds on a long term foundation within Scandinavia. To have Reza join the group
of highly skilled and motivated employees of the company further strengthens our beliefs for its
future growth prospects,” said Mr. Thorsteinn Örn Gudmundsson, Sterling’s Chairman.
Mr. Taleghani has significant experience within the airline industry on both strategy and corporate
finance matters. He has worked with several major airlines around the world on strategic matters,
IPOs, financings and other initiatives. Mr. Taleghani holds dual AB degrees in History and
Organizational Behavior and Management from Brown University. He received his graduate law
degree from Villanova University School of Law and his MBA from Villanova School of Business.
“Sterling Airlines is a company with a proud history and dedicated employees who take great pride
in serving the Scandinavian passenger. I am honored to be given the opportunity to lead this great
company to the next chapter of Sterling’s growth and to work with such a talented and dedicated
team,” Mr. Taleghani stated.
Mr. Taleghani is relocating to Copenhagen with his family and will formally join the company after
completing a brief transitioning period from JPMorgan, at which point Mr. Hilmarsson will resign,
having led the successful merger of Maersk Air into Sterling. M. Taleghani and Hilmarsson will
work closely together to ensure a successful handover of the operations of the company.
“It has been a privilege to work with Sterling and to lead the company through challenging times. I
have been a part of bringing two companies together and ensuring operational stability. I leave the
table where I am satisfied with my role and hand over the responsibility to lead the future growth to
Reza,” said Mr. Hilmarsson.
Sterling Airlines operates a fleet of 29 modern Boeing 737 aircraft to more than one hundred flight
destinations. With 1020 dedicated employees, Sterling is focused on delivering reliable and flexible
service at a fair transparent price to its customers. More can be learned about Sterling and its
