Lufthansa S11 North America Frequency Reductions

Lufthansa in Summer 2011 is reducing 1 weekly frequencies on selected North American service out of Frankfurt, effective 27MAR11.

Routes affected, as per 02FEB11 GDS timetable display, as follows:

Frankfurt – Calgary Reduce from Daily to 6 weekly. Day 5 canceled
Frankfurt – Dallas Reduce from Daily to 6 weekly. Day 2 canceled
Frankfurt – Philadelphia Reduce from Daily to 6 weekly. Day 1 canceled
Frankfurt – Toronto Day 1 service continues with Airbus A340-300 operation, replace -600
Frankfurt – Washington Dulles Summer service Reduce from 14 to 13 weekly. LH416/417 Day 7 Canceled. (LH416/417 service effective 10MAY11)



Lufthansa to Increase Shanghai and Nanjing service in S11

As per 01FEB11 GDS timetable display, Lufthansa is further increasing Frankfurt – Shanghai Pu Dong service during Summer season, effective 16APR11. In the past, the Star Alliance member increases service in Summer from 7 to 10 weekly. However, in 2011, service increases to Double Daily. Including service from Munich, LH operates 3 times a day to Shanghai.

Also, Subject to Government approval, it is adding 4th weekly service on Frankfurt – Nanjing route, new flight departs FRA on Saturdays, effective 27MAR11.

Con questo, se non erro PVG diventa la seconda destinazione intercontinentale più servita da LH (a livello di numero di posti offerti giornaliero) dalla Germania, dopo New York (considerando per quest'ultima entrambi gli aeroporti). O sbaglio?
 
Edit il messaggio precedente, nella summer 2011 ci sono 2 744 da FRA e 1 346 da MUC sia su ORD che su LAX.

Poi anche YYZ, LAX hanno circa 3 daily dalla Germania con LH.
 
Si effettivamente alcune destinazioni americane hanno ancora più offerta, direi che diviene solo la destinazione asiatica con più posti giornalieri disponibili (code share esclusi naturalmente).
L'altro giorno era stata postata su un altro thread una possibile apertura del DUS-PVG, si tratta di un'opzione compatibile con questo incremento di frequenze da FRA?
 
Boh difficile pronosticare, non si sa nemmeno quante frequenze potrà avere un possibile DUS-PVG. Magari arriverà anche il 380 l'anno prossimo da FRA.
 
A prima vista, le riduzioni delle frequenze sugli USA sembrerebbero di fatto compensare, in termini numerici, gli aumenti sulla Cina.
Anche se DFW, YYC e PHL mi risultano operate con 340-300, e non 340-600.

Mi scuserete l'OT, ma non mi risultano rotte operate da LH nelle quali il 388 abbia sostituito i 343 o 346 (o su JNB volavano con 346?). Dovrebbero essere tutte tratte sulle quali il 388 ha sostituito il 744 (così fanno anche su SFO da maggio, per esempio).
E, allo stesso modo, non mi vengono in mente rotte nelle quali il 744 ha sostituito (o è in procinto di sostituire) i 346.
Se questo è vero, e non sono previsti phase out dei 744, dovrebbero avere a disposizione qualcuno di questi ultimi. Perchè non li utilizzano per l'upgrade su qualche rotta? Questione di età della flotta?
