Kenya Airways brings Italy and Switzerland within network

Rome and Geneva are to join Kenya Airways' network this summer.
The carrier says it will start four-times-weekly flights from Nairobi to Rome in June, using a Boeing 787. The flights will then continue to Geneva before returning from there to Nairobi.
Kenya Airways chief executive Sebastian Mikosz describes Geneva as a "global hub for diplomacy", noting that the city hosts the UN headquarters, offering a "perfect complement to Nairobi, which is also Africa's hub for the UN, among other international agencies".
FlightGlobal schedules data shows no links between Nairobi and Rome or Geneva. Swiss operates to the Kenyan capital from Zurich. Italian carrier Neos operates flights from Milan Malpensa and Verona to another Kenyan city, Mombasa, while Air Italy also offers connections from Milan to Mombasa.
Kenya Airways previously operated to Rome between D ecember 2010 and May 2012. The SkyTeam carrier has never flown to Geneva.

KQ 124 NBO FCO 23.50 06.10(+1) [--3---7]
KQ 128 NBO FCO 23.50 09.50(+1) [1---5--] via GVA

KQ 128 FCO NBO 11.05 19.05 [-2---6-]
KQ 124 FCO NBO 07.30 19.10 [1--4---] via GVA

Kenya Airways and Alitalia start codeshare agreement More choice and benefits for both airlines’ travelers on Europe-Africa

Rome, Nairobi, 18 March 2019 –Kenya Airways and Alitalia, partner airlines in the SkyTeam alliance, have signed a broad codeshare agreement connecting the networks of the two companies.

Kenya Airways gets additional connectivity to Europe
In Summary

•This will give tourists and businessmen access to the networks of the two airlines between African points into Europe, the Far East and South America.

•The national carrier launched flights to Malindi in June 2019 specifically to connect with the Italian market.

Kenya Airways and Alitalia have entered into a connectivity agreement that is expected to open up more rotes for both airlines.

The code sharing will give tourists and businessmen access to the networks of the two airlines between African points into Europe, the Far East and South America.

The agreement will see the Italian airline widen its codeshare network in Africa, by placing its “AZ” flight code on Kenya Airways’ service to Malindi.

Similarly, Kenya Airways will expand its offer by placing its ‘KQ’ flight code on Alitalia’s services from Rome to Tirana – Albania, Podgorica – Montenegro, Santiago – Chile, Buenos Aires – Argentina, Sao Paulo – Brazil, Rio de Janerio, Seoul – South Korea.

The national carrier launched flights to Malindi in June 2019 specifically to connect with the Italian market.

“The expansion of this partnership reflects the opportunities that have been unlocked since the inception of the Nairobi to Rome flight ” said Kenya Airways Chief Commercial Officer, Ursula Silling.

This agreement will enable customers to fly to their desired destination with a single ‘unique’ ticket, checking-in at the airport of departure, and collecting their checked-through baggage at the end of their trip in the arrival airport.

Besides the new codeshare services and more convenient flight connections, Kenya Airways and Alitalia customers will have the opportunity to earn and redeem miles on the entire network operated by both airlines.

In March 2019, Alitalia and Kenya Airways entered into a codeshare partnership to offer their customers more travel options at their hubs in Nairobi and Rome.

Bisogna comunque risalire in Europa.
