Incidente aereo a Mogadiscio

MOGADISCIO - Un aereo è precipitato poco fa sullo scalo aeroportuale di Mogadiscio. Secondo quanto riferisce la tv araba Al-Jazira, si tratta di un aereo passeggeri che sarebbe stato colpito da un razzo mentre era in fase di decollo. Testimoni oculari affermano che il velivolo sarebbe stato copletamente avvolto dalle fiamme.

I SAM a Mogadiscio non penso li abbia nessuno.

Narrative:
The Il-76 cargo plane was chartered to fly Ugandan peace keeping forces and equipment to Somalia. On final approach, while the airplane was 2,5 - 3 km from the runway at a height of about 120 m, the airplane was struck by a projectile, most likely an RPG. The Il-76 was hit on the left hand side of the fuselage near the main landing gear. A fire erupted, causing smoke inside the plane. The airplane landed safely. After coming to rest, the nine crew members evacuated through the emergency hatch in the flight deck and the UPDF personnel evacuated through the starboard door. It took about one hour for the only fire-fighting truck available at the airport to reach the plane as it had no fuel.
The crew thought that the rocket was fired at the plane from small boat as they were approaching over sea.

Anche alitalia quando nei suoi tempi d'oro operava anche in somalia le colpirono un dc8 a un motore!

Conosco bene quell'aeroporto. Sono quindici anni che è sotto il tiro dei missili e dei mortai. Ci ho viassuto, lì vicino, per alcune settimane nel '93 con Ilaria Alpi alla quale, anche qui, vorrei riservare il ricordo speciale di una giornalista in gamba.

Il Mogadishu International è stato chiuso per oltre dieci anni, L'hanno riaperto pochi mesi fa le corti islamiche, prima di essere cacciate.

Quello è stato a Beirut.

Esatto. Era il 26 giugno 1970 e l'aereo il DC-8-43 I-DIWL.

Alitalia DC-8 Flight 713 was approaching Syrian airspace 70 minutes after takeoff when the crew was told that Syrian airspace was closed. He requested vectors to Beirut and was told to fly to Damascus and turn direct to Beirut. While flying at FL295 the left wing to a direct hit from an air-to-air missile. The flight dropped 3250 feet and the pilot had to shut down the no. 1 engine. Since Damascus Airport was closed, an emergency landing was carried out at Beirut.
At the time flight 713 was hit, a battle was going on between Egypt Air Force MiG-21 fighters and Israeli Mirage IIICJ fighters. Reportedly Syrian MiG-17 were involved as well.
