Il nuovo "Ed force one"

- Incidente sulla pista dell'aeroporto internazionale di Santiago del Cile per l'aereo degli Iron Maiden. L'asta del veicolo con il quale si stava rimorchiando l'aereo si è spezzata e ha lasciato il velivolo senza direzione così l'Ed Force One - questo il nome dell'aereo usato dalla band britannica heavy metal - si è scontrato con un veicolo che transitava sulla pista. A spiegarlo è lo stesso gruppo musicale sul suo sito web.
Lo scontro, spiega la band, ha provocato "grandi danni al carrello di atterraggio e a due dei motori dell'aereo, oltre a determinare il ferimento di due dipendenti dell'aeroporto, che sono stati ricoverati in ospedale". "Speriamo che recuperino in modo completo e rapito. Seguiremo da vicino l'evolversi della situazione", scrive ancora il gruppo.

CONCERTS IN ARGENTINA TOMORROW AND TUESDAY EXPECTED TO GO AHEAD AS PLANNED
Ed Force One was this morning tethered to a tow truck to be taken for refuelling prior to flying over the Andes to Cordoba for the next show. On moving the steering pin that is part of the mechanism that connects the ground tug to the aircraft seemingly fell out. On making a turn the aircraft had no steering and collided with the ground tug badly damaging the undercarriage, two of the aircrafts engines and injuring two ground tug operators, both of whom have been taken to hospital. We hope of course that they make a full and speedy recovery and we will be closely monitoring their progress. The flight engineers are on site and evaluating the damage, but their initial report is that the engines have suffered large damage and will require an extended period of maintenance and possibly two new engines.
We are currently making contingency arrangements to get to the show in Cordoba tomorrow with band, crew and equipment intact. Fortunately the 20 tons of equipment had not been loaded onto EF1 at the time of the accident. Although this is tragic for our beautiful plane we do not expect this to affect our concert schedule including the next 2 shows in Cordoba and Buenos Aires. And we hope to find a new Ed Force One to continue this adventure with us in the near future. We will keep everyone updated when we know more, so keep checking only on this site for official news.
To finish on a high note however, our visit to Chile was a huge success with 58,000 fans coming to the show as totally brilliant as ever in the Stadium Nacional last night. We love you guys!

All required parts located
Engines are located in Hannover, Germany
Cowlings and thrust reverser are located in Kemble, UK
Tooling and consumable material in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
• TUESDAY MARCH 15
Inspection in progress
Charter secured with Cargolux, charter route LUX-STN-SCL. Due to size of the cowlings and
thrust reverser it was decide to have the charter pick them up in Stansted, to save time.
Special road permits would have to be obtained and the truck escorted from Kemble to
Luxemburg. Preparation on getting the engines, cowlings, thrust reverser, tooling and
consumables to LUX and STN starts.
Engines to be trucked Hannover to Luxembourg
Cowlings and thrust reverser to be trucked from Kemble to Stansted
Tooling and consumables to be sent on a flight Jeddah to London Heathrow, then trucked to
Stansted

Due to limited amount of personnel in SCL with experience and license on B747-400, Air
Atlanta decides to send a “Task Force” on site to work around the clock to get Ed Force One
back in the air.

Tooling and consumables arrives in STN. Charter departs from LUX.
• FRIDAY MARCH 18
Inspection in progress
All parts and equipment arrives in SCL. Engine towed to the LAN Chile Maintenance ramp
and preparation for the engine change started.
• SATURDAY MARCH 19
Inspection in progress
#1 engine replacement completed.
• SUNDAY MARCH 20
Inspections completed, no structural damage to Ed Force One.
#2 engine replacement completed.
• MONDAY MARCH 21
Thrust reverser replaced and cowlings installed.
Leak checks carried out.

è una rotta storica. la ivcenda di Bruce Dickinson però non è confermata; o meglio nessuno riporta la data dell'eventuale volo e sentendo chi lavora sul piazzale nessuno si è accorto della sua presenza a bordo...

è una rotta storica. la ivcenda di Bruce Dickinson però non è confermata; o meglio nessuno riporta la data dell'eventuale volo e sentendo chi lavora sul piazzale nessuno si è accorto della sua presenza a bordo...
