Dall'anno prossimo:
"We will be very proud to open our fifth italian gateway from the 1st of April 2015" Mr. Isais Avrool, network scheduling manager at the UAE-based Emirate Airlines, said yesterday to our reporters.
"Bologna is only one of the many routes we'll be opening in 2015" says the manager "and the only one we can announce so far since we've just closed the agreement with the airpor company. We would have opened it sooner but the airport facility is not yet ready to handle our 777-300ER which will be flying the route on a daily basis".
The airport is indeed in a restructuring phase which plans the installation of 2 loading bridges fundamental for the quick turnaround operations the carrier is requiring. Once everything will be in place, the market will be more than mature to receive the daily connection to Dubai.
"Bologna sits in one of the richest catchment areas in Italy and we've been watching at it for long time. We couldn't just land there for infrastructural constraints, but now that these will soon be released we have to move fast to avoid our competitors to arrive before us" continues Mr. Isais. At Bologna airport Turkish Airlines has already 2 daily flights to Istanbul granting connections to the east and all the big european airlines serve the city with several daily flights. The Emirati airline targets to erode those market shares and convey high-yield business passengers through its Gulf hub.
The flights will soon be opened for reservations and the airplane used in the route will be a 2-class configured 438-seats Boeing 777-300ER.
