US Airways and America West are close to an agreement that would give the two airlines a USD250m loan.
The loan, which would be given by the aircraft manufacturer Airbus, is part of an order for 20 Airbus A350 aircraft. According to The Wall Street Journal, citing sources close to the events, the loan to the airlines would be part of a financing deal arranged with private investors for up to USD400m, which includes USD100-150m from ACE Aviation Holdings Inc, which is the parent company of Air Canada.
According to Reuters, the two airlines have so far pledged USD250m in equity with other possible investors including General Electric Co, which is US Airways' largest creditor, and Retirement Systems of Alabama, the single biggest stakeholder of the airline.
US Airways Group Inc and America West Holdings Corp have confirmed that they are in talks regarding a merger and reports have suggested that an agreement may be announced as early as this week.

e pensare che Virgin aveva pubblicizzato, con Airbus, il 340-600 come piu' affidabile sul lungo raggio del 777....(four engines for the long haul ) ora dopo i guai al sistema carburante e i consumi piu' elevati rispetto al 777, cambia registro.
Ad oggi ci sono 567 ordini fermi, 23 ordini in "stand-by" e 325 tra opzioni e diritti d'acquisto.
O Airbus si da una mossa, o liquida: ordini di A380 al di sotto della redditività, ordini di A 350 inconsistenti, quanto ancora riusciranno a tirare avanti con la linea A330/340?
