E anche Silverjet sospende tutti i voli

Dopo EOS e MAXjet ....anche Silverjet, la compagnia all-business con base a Luton, ha sospeso da stamane tutte le operazioni di volo.
L'ultimo collegamento effettuato è stato quello con Dubai.

Suspension of operations

Silverjet announced on 23 May 2008 that it had yet to receive the proceeds
of the US$5.0 million drawdown request made under its loan facility with
Viceroy Holdings LLC ("Viceroy"). It also announced that its working
capital reserves were limited and that advances under the loan facility
were required as a matter of urgency. Silverjet has not received any
further sums from Viceroy.

Silverjet continues to be in discussions with investors interested
in supporting the business of Silverjet, however it has yet to conclude
such discussions to its satisfaction.
It is with deep regret that the Board of Silverjet has therefore decided
that it must suspend operations with immediate effect. The last service of
Silverjet was the flight from Dubai to London Luton, which departed at
7.30 am (BST) this morning.

A further announcement will be made shortly.
 
Troubled Silverjet stops flights

Business airline Silverjet has suspended all flights after failing to secure essential funding.

Shares in the carrier were suspended earlier this month when it failed to obtain a critical $5m (£2.5m) loan.

The firm said other airlines were not obliged to honour unused Silverjet tickets and advised passengers awaiting return flights to make their own plans.

It is the latest carrier to run into trouble as fuel prices soar and consumer demand wanes.

Rival business airlines Eos and Maxjet have gone out of business this year while other carriers are struggling.

Cost pressures

As recently as last week Silverjet said it would continue its services between London Luton and Dubai and New York as scheduled but warned that it needed to secure additional funds urgently.

At the time, it said it was in discussions with a number of parties looking to invest in the firm and these negotiations continue.

"Silverjet continues to be in discussions with investors interested in supporting the business of Silverjet, however it has yet to conclude such discussions to its satisfaction," the airline said.

Silverjet started services in January 2007 and operates three aircraft.

Airlines across the board are struggling to deal with rising cost pressures, many of them having to raise fuel surcharges and start charging for services such as checking in bags.

Era nell'aria da qualche giorno, ma ora l'annuncio è ufficiale. Dopo MaxiJet ed Eos, anche Silverjet ha cessato le operazioni di volo. Il suo ultimo collegamento è stato un Luton-Dubai di questa mattina. Nei giorni scorsi il vettore aveva sospeso la contrattazione del titolo all'Aim di Londra in seguito al mancato arrivo dell'iniezione di cash dai nuovi investitori per alcuni milioni di sterline

Ora direi che è ufficiale che il modello di business dei voli di linea operati da piccoli vettori all-business non è un modello che funziona.

Obiettivamente se spendo i soldi per un tkt di Business voglio anche tutto ciò che c'è intorno e che solo una major ti può garantire.
Quindi OK a una Privatair, che alla fine opera per conto della major, ma non a una Sterling (o simile).
La major ti riprotegge senza esitazione (ancor più se sei pax di Business), ti dà una serie di servizi collaterali(comprese le miglia FF che valgono in genere x1,5 in business...)
E la stessa compagnia che esercita per conto della major ha dei supporti logistici, che l'altra da sola, non può avere.
E alla fine i conti non tornano...

Recentemente l'avion da raddoppiato i voli da ORY a NYC da 1 a 2x daily non penso quindi che vadano proprio male...inoltre adesso con il CS con Opensky potranno offrire complessivamente un 3x daily
