On 12 June 1994, the world’s first Boeing 777 passenger plane took its first flight. The plane’s line number was WA001, FAA registration N7771. N7771’s first flight lasted 3 hours and 48 minutes. At the time, this was the longest flight time of any Boeing plane. N7771 ended its test program on April 1997, three years after this first flight. The plane was fitted with two Pratt & Whitney PW4074 two-spool high-bypass-ratio turbofan engines when it doing its tests.

After N7771 ended its test programs, the plane was purchased by Cathay Pacific, which was one of a handful of airlines to provide input on the aircraft. The plane was completely refurbished and equipped for passenger services. N7771 soon changed its registration number into B-HNL. This B777-267 was configured into a two-class configuration with 42 business class seats and 293 economy class seats. B-HNL had a total of 335 seats, even less than some of the B777-300s now.

On September 17, this remarkable plane took its second to last flight. It performed Xiamen (XMN) to Hong Kong (HKG) as flight CX3395. Soon, on September 18th, the plane will take its last flight from Hong Kong (HKG) to Tucson (DMA). Cathay Pacific and Boeing announced that they will be donating the plane to Pima Air & Space Museum, an aviation museum in Arizona....
