Flights from Slovakia to England and Ireland, in summer also to Spain

Slovak airline Danube Wings launched regular flights from the Poprad/Tatry Airport to London, Dublin and Manchester (also from Bratislava) starting December 1, 2009. Danube Wings shall operate these flights using a Boeing 737-400, leased by the Slovak carrier along with its crew from Czech Airlines.

Apart from regular flights to Great Britain and Ireland launched on December 1, 2009 Danube Wings also began the sale of flights for the summer season. Danube Wings, a trademark of VIP Wings introduced several new lines for the upcoming summer including seasonal destinations in Italy (Olbia, Catania) and Spain (Palma de Mallorca). The company intends to launch a local line from Bologna, and shall seasonally also fly from Basel to Venice and Balaton. In addition, direct flights between Bologna and Poprad/Tatry shall be reintroduced this summer as well.

The Danube Wings team is at the same time working on the launch of flights from Bratislava to Greece’s Thessaloniki as well as the establishment of a connection between Paris and Bratislava. The introduction of both lines will however depend on the setup of the carrier’s fleet for 2010. Nevertheless, the airline has re-introduced CARGO transport between Bratislava and Košice.

“Our company is gradually developing its domestic as well as foreign activities. We had to face a lot of challenges over the past and are extremely proud to once again prove the ability to keep our resolutions and achieve our goals. We want to grow further, expand our offer, and increase passenger numbers however, always with regard to the quality and safety of provided services. Our mission is to connect Slovakia with its neighbouring countries,“ Sales Director of Danube Wings Ing. Arpad Agócs stated.

Danube Wings operates flights to 12 destinations in six countries. During the first ten months of 2009 it operated 2,526 flights using three ATR 72 aircrafts with a seating capacity of 70 passengers per plane. Alone in December, the company intends to transport 7,000 – 10,000 passengers to and from the Poprad/Tatry Airport.

Danube Wings sells its tickets at final prices already including all surcharges, free of hidden price components. The carrier for instance does not collect extra fees for luggage. Flights can be booked via its webpage www.danubewings.com or contracted points of sale.
