CUBANA from MAy 2013 is introducing new Antonov An158 service to its operation, which mainly operates domestic service. Antonov An158 uses the aircraft code “A58″, a stretched variant of Antonov An148 regional aircraft, carries up to 99 passengers in mono-class configuration.
Planned CUBANA’s Antonov An158 operation as follow.
Havana – Santiago de Cuba eff 01MAY13 Antonov An158 replaces A319
CU984 HAV0630 – 0800SCU A58 D
CU986 HAV1900 – 2030SCU A58 x13
CU986 HAV1955 – 2130SCU A58 13
CU985 SCU0900 – 1030HAV A58 D
CU984 operates from 01JUL13, replacing A319.
Note in the GDS, Santiago de Cuba departure is displaying A319 operation until 30JUN13. Further changes remain possible.
Havana – Guantanamo eff 01MAY13 Antonov An158 replaces A319/320, service increases from 2 to 5 weekly

Si Cubana riceverà i primi tre AN-158, gli altri due che sono in costruzione sono destinati ad un cliente sconosciuto al momento.
 
On March 20, 2013, flight tests of the first serial AN−158, 99−seat regional jet, started. This aircraft has been produced at ANTONOV Serial plant on order of Ilushin Finance Co, Russian leasing company, for further pass to Cubana de Aviacion airlines, Cuba. The first flight endured 2 hours 20 minutes. The airplane was piloted by test−pilots S.Troshin, the crew captain, and A.Gorin. The programme of tests includes 10 flights including 3 preliminary and 3 acceptance ones.

The airplanes are being waited at Cuba. The carrier plans to perform domestic and international flights − to Central America and Canada on the AN−158. Within the period of October−November 2012, 10 members of flight crews and engineering staff of Cuban airlines were trained in theory, practice and on simulators. Jorge Martinez Vaskez, Cuban pilot, said about aircraft “We liked the AN−158very much – it is very comfortable for passengers and crew. It is the modern airplane capable of competing with the western analogues. It has an excellent avionics, high aerodynamic characteristics”.
