TIA records further impressive growth during 2010
In 2010, Tirana International Airport (TIA) served 1,536,822 passengers, recording further impressive growth for the company. The Airport also recorded 20,768 air traffic movements (ATMs) and handled 1,785 tons of cargo. In comparison with the previous year, passenger numbers increased by 10.2 per cent, ATMs by 3.5 per cent and cargo by 4.4 per cent. Tirana International Airport witnessed further sustainable growth last year including in cargo handling, all strong testimony to the stable economy of both the company and the country. TIA Cargo Export is currently the only accredited IATA member in Albania. With twenty-four hour operations each and every day our experienced, trained and well-oriented staff is the answer to all cargo market demands,” said Mr. Rolf Castro-Vasquez, TIA Chief Operations Officer.
With last month’s liberalization of visas for Albanians still more passengers are expected to use the Airport. In order to maintain its consistent high standards and high levels of customer satisfaction, TIA will be working hard to provide its top level of efficiency to cope with the expected growth in numbers, offering all passengers the full safety and security that they deserve.
Last year, the airlines carrying most passengers to and from Tirana were Belleair (43.9%), Alitalia (10.6%), Albanian Airlines (7.4%), Austrian Airlines (5.7%) and Turkish Airlines (4.9%). Currently, twelve airlines fly in to and out of TIA, connecting directly the Albanian capital city with 30 destinations, including the new carrier BelleAir Europe. The decision of the airlines operating at TIA to expand their number of routes is based on the Airport’s remarkable passenger growth recorded over the last couple of years.
TIA is committed to offering its passengers, airlines and business customers the best. Every day the Airport works to offer a better service, and it constantly maintains a safe, secure environment for its customers. The company offers a high standard working environment for all airlines operating on its premises.
