fonte BA:
First B747-8 freighter for IAG Cargo arrives in Stansted
The first of three new freighters to operate in British Airways World Cargo livery landed in Stansted today and will enter commercial service on Tuesday November 08. Two further B747-8F aircraft are scheduled for delivery before mid December.
The Boeing 747-8 freighter provides an enhanced environmental performance owing to its new benchmark in fuel efficiency, noise reduction and decreased CO2 production. It has an increased range of 4,475 nautical miles (8,275 km), as well as 16 per cent more cargo volume than the 747-400f. This means it is able to hold seven additional pallets, while maintaining the same nose and door loading capabilities for industry-standard 10-foot high pallets.
Jude Winstanley, senior vice president cargo revenue and network optimisation, said: "This is a exciting time for our cargo business. It is the biggest single investment we have made to date in cargo and it's fabulous that the aircraft will be operating in the British Airways livery. These aircraft give us a great opportunity to increase our overall freighter capacity in our key markets."
