Reuters AlertNet is reporting a FedEx Cargo plane has crashed at Tokyo Narita Airport as the plane failed to land.

The weather condition at the airport at time of the crash, 23MAR09 0650LT, was gusty.

TOKYO, March 23 (Reuters) - A Federal Express Corp cargo plane crash landed and was burning at Narita airport in Tokyo, Japanese media reported.

NARITA —
A cargo aircraft crash landed due to strong winds at around 6:50 a.m. Monday morning at Narita International Airport, east of Tokyo, and burst into flames, Chiba prefectural police said.

The crashed plane, an MD-11, was FedEx Flight 80 from Guangzhou, China and was manned by a pilot and co-pilot, according to the transport ministry’s Narita airport office. Police said it remains unknown whether there are any casualties. The cargo plane landed on Runway A, the longer of the airport’s two runways, the office said. The runway is currently closed.

Un aereo cargo si è schiantato sulla pista dell’aeroporto di Tokyo e si è incendiato. L’aereo, che proveniva da Canton, nel sud della Cina, aveva a bordo un pilota e un secondo pilota, ha aggiunto l’agenzia Kyodo.

Cargo plane crash lands in Japan

A cargo plane has crash-landed and burst into flames near Tokyo, Japanese media report.

Reports say the accident happened at the main Narita international airport on Monday morning local time.

So far there has been no news of any casualties.

Japan's NHK public broadcaster reported that the plane was a Federal Express Corp flight. It said one runway at Narita was closed after the accident.

Ho appena visto il video dell'atterraggio sulla CNN: ha letteralmente rimbalzato sulla pista 2 volte poi ha cappottato ed é esploso: terrificante!!!
 
Anch'io ho visto il video, però si vede solo dal secondo rimbalzo.. e per l'entità di quanto visto, sembra che già il primo rimbalzo sia stato piuttosto duro!
 
Rivedendo il filmato il primo atterraggio non sembra neanche così duro, poi però all'improvviso l'aereo punta il muso verso il basso e rimbalza... sicuramente il vento può avere contribuito all'incidente.
Ma per la testa mi rimbalza l'idea degli spoiler che non si sono estesi al contatto con il suolo...
 
Per quello che sono riuscito a vedere la prima toccata è stata molto dura è rimbalzato e sembra abbiano cercato di rimetterlo giù.Ma giù è finito il muso quindi è rimbalzato ancora e,forse,hanno provato a riattaccare ma oramai l'aereo era fuori controllo.L'aereo ha bankato di 90° sulla sinistra ma l'ala sinistra toccando violentemente terra si è danneggiata prendendo fuoco mentre l'aereo si avvitava in un tonneau.Le ultime immagini fanno verdere l'MD11 come una tartaruga rovesciata.

Avete in mente i palloni usati per il pilates? Ecco, vedendo quel video ho come avuto la stessa sensazione che si ha lanciando uno di quei palloni in terra, rimbalzano due o tre volte.

Spero che non ci siano morti, anche se temo ve ne saranno.

Sicuramente il vento ha influenzato l'atterraggio e il conseguente incidente visto che l'ultimo METAR è questo:
RJAA 230000Z 32021G31KT 9999 FEW030 14/M03 Q1003 NOSIG
 
Dal filmato già si intravede che son atterrati con una botta non indifferente, ma avevano il muso troppo alto e nel metterlo giù forse troppo in fretta l'areo si è impennato e rimbalzato almeno da un profano come me la vedo cosi
Non è che con la prima botta se sganciato il carico all'interno (ammesso che c'era) è ha fatto da zavorra?

Sembra quasi che una mano invisibile (il carico a spasso??) l'abbia fatto impennare...

poi col vento tutto puo essere..sopratutto con un md11..
