BIMAN applies to extend New York Route authority & FY11/12 Planned New Routes
BIMAN Bangladesh Airlines this month issued application seeking permission to amend existing exemption authority.
In 2010, BIMAN gained approval to operate 2 weekly Dhaka – Manchester – New York JFK service with leased Boeing 777-200ER, but this plan did not materialized. Per application, the airline reaffirms its commitment on this route, and seeks to extend this route authority as it is seeking for Boeing 777 aircraft for this service. It plans to start the service as early as May 2011.
In the same document as appendix, BIMAN also outlined future fleet and route network plan. Details as follows:
New York JFK
The airline hopes to operate 2 weekly leased Boeing 777-200/-200ER aircraft for Dhaka – Manchester – New York JFK. Service to switch to Boeing 777-300ER* when the airline receive the aircraft it has on order in November or December 2011
