Narrative:
An Airbus A330-300 operated by Thai Airways International suffered a runway excursion accident upon landing at Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK), Thailand. Initial media reports indicate there were 288 passengers and 14 crew members on board. At least twelve were injured.
Flight TG-679 landed on runway 19L at 23:26 following a flight from Guangzhou, China. It apparently went off the right side of the runway, causing the nosegear to fail. The airplane was evacuated on the left hand side of the plane.
Reportedly a fire erupted in the right hand engine, which was put out by airport fire services.

In a statement Thai Airways reported there was a "landing gear malfunction" after touchdown and that "Fire spark were noticed from the vicinity right landing gear near the engine".

Thai Airways removes damaged aircraft

Thai Airways has removed its Airbus A330-300 from runway 19L at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport.

The aircraft slid off the runway after one of its landing gear bogies reportedly collapsed on landing Sept. 8 after landing following a flight from Guangzhou, China. Of the 288 passengers and 14 crew, 13 sustained minor injuries during the evacuation.

Local press reports have indicated the accident was caused by the failure of a defective bogie beam.

The aircraft’s proximity obstructed the runway, restricting its usable length.

The incident is under investigation by multiple agencies, including the Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee of Thailand, the US National Transportation Safety Board and France’s Bureau d'Enquêtes et d'Analyses. Representatives from Airbus and powerplant manufacturer Pratt & Whitney are also assisting.*

The investigation is being chaired by the ranking civil servant of the Thai Ministry of Transport.
