Prendo spunto da un'interessante discussione in atto su A.net :

"South Asia as a region is not making any profits and hence any additional cost or resistance to cost savings may result in closer route reviews. India has been particularly negatively impacted and is now the biggest loss-making country on the Asia, Pacific and Africa network. There is not one route that made a profit during 2008/09 and performance during Quarter 4 was responsible for approximately half of the full year loss of British Airways."

E' un tasto dolente. Tra la crisi a livello globale e il fatto che l'India non si è rivelata la nuova China molti vettori ce l'han dura. C'è anche da dire che i collegamenti UK-India han visto non poco sviluppo negli ultimi 5 anni, che probabilmente ha portato ad una leggera sovracapacità.

Ci potrebbero quindi essere riduzioni o tagli nelle rotte BA verso l'India? Quali sono le rotte piu' a rischio?

Soprattutto dai prezzi ridicoli che Emirates ha dall'inizio dell'anno, e che stanno invogliando tutti gli indiani a usare la compagnia degli Emirati per tornare a casa, piuttosto che British Airways...

Anche, tanto che le crescite a doppia cifra di EK, QR ed EY non han fatto altro che succhiare traffico da altre direttrici per smistarlo nei loro hub. Il traffico per DOH, DXB, AUH è un'arma a doppio taglio: ti collega con la penisola Araba e ti permette di raggiungere parecchie destinazioni in giro per il mondo ma compromette parecchio mercati basati sull'etnico price sensible e su tratte molto lunghe (vedi crollo passeggeri tra UK-Oceania). A lungo andare non so quanto bene possano fare queste tre compagnie.
 
Come mai BA non ha fatto c/s con una delle tre compagnie indiane che operano sull'intercontinentale:dubbio:
