Qatar Airways also surprised attending guests and international media by revealing an additional 12 new destinations to be launched in 2018: San Francisco, U.S.; Cardiff, United Kingdom; Utapao, Thailand; Chittagong, Bangladesh; Mykonos, Greece; Málaga, Spain; Accra, Ghana; Lisbon, Portugal; Abidjan, Ivory Coast; Prague, Czech Republic; Kiev, Ukraine and Mombasa, Kenya. This news comes after the airline had already announced an impressive 14 new destinations for 2017-18, further adding to the airline's global network of more than 150 destinations.

QR ha annunciato Salonicco 4xw da marzo, seconda destinazione in Grecia
In teoria dai piani annunciati pochi mesi fa ci dovrebbero essere in futuro anche voli Doha-Mykonos estivi.

New route provides passengers in Greece a seamless travelling experience by introducing a second local destination

DOHA, Qatar – Qatar Airways is pleased to announce that it will launch flights to Thessaloniki, Greece next year. The award-winning airline will operate four weekly flights to the Greek city commencing 27 March 2018.

Thessaloniki, the airline’s second destination in Greece, is well-known for its many archaeological sites and historic structures, including its well-preserved Byzantine mosaics and walls. The relatively small city is considered an open-air museum of Byzantine history, and offers a truly unique cultural experience for everyone.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “Greece has always been one of our most in-demand destinations, and as such, we are delighted to offer our passengers a direct service to Thessaloniki, our second destination in Greece. Our new four-time weekly service to this enchanting city will enable us to provide a seamless journey to and from Greece. By adding Thessaloniki to our global network, we are pleased to offer our Greece-based passengers a gateway to more than 150 destinations worldwide through our hub, Hamad International Airport.”

The new service between Doha and Thessaloniki will be operated by an Airbus A320 aircraft, featuring 12 seats in Business Class and 132 seats in Economy Class.

Qatar Airways currently operates three daily flights to Athens, Greece’s capital and largest city, and provides more than 4,000 seats to Athens each week. With the addition of Thessaloniki, this will increase to more than 5,000 seats per week.

Qatar Airways will be adding many more exciting destinations to its network in 2017 and 2018, including Canberra, Australia; Chiang Mai, Thailand; and Penang, Malaysia, to name a few.

The national carrier of the State of Qatar is one of the fastest-growing airlines operating one of the youngest fleets in the world. Now in its 20th year of operations, Qatar Airways has a modern fleet of more than 200 aircraft flying to business and leisure destinations across six continents.

io 4 volte (2 a/r), in economy, ife non di ultima generazione ma comunque decoroso con discreta scelta, seduta appena sufficiente, catering non all'altezza 4 voli su 4
arrivo a doha lo sbarco e l'imbarco sempre tramite bus......
il prossimo volo l'ho già prenotato con il tuo avatar :D

Grazie, non era quello che volevo sentire ma era immaginabile. Ah la cara e vecchia Thai, sono diventato pigro e voglio partire vicino...

Io preso 4 volte...in business sempre uova configurazione con poltrone Curtis e ife nuova generazione...Catering altro mondo rispetto alle europee

Provato anch’io in business ed è stata un’eccellente esperienza sia per il posto/pasto che per la cura nel servizio. Confermo imbarco sbarco a mezzo bus ma dedicato business con poltrone prelevate direttamente dal salotto di casa.

Qatar Airways from May 2018 is expanding service to Greece, with the introduction of Doha – Mykonos nonstop service. Commencing on 30MAY18, Airbus A320 aircraft will operate this route 4 times a week.

DOHA, Qatar – Qatar Airways once again stole the limelight on the opening day of ITB Berlin, the world’s largest international travel fair, as Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, announced the airline’s aggressive expansion plans and 16 new destinations for 2018 - 2019 at a full press conference.

On the same day, the award-winning airline also unveiled a brand new interactive exhibition stand. Hosted by H.E. Mr. Al Baker, the unveiling was attended by the Qatari Ambassador to Germany, His Excellency Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, as well as a host of international media and VIPs.
At the Qatar Airways press conference, attended by almost 200 members of the international media, H.E. Mr. Al Baker announced a raft of forthcoming global destinations for the airline in line with its expedited expansion plans, including the announcement that Qatar Airways will be the first Gulf carrier to begin direct service to Luxembourg. Other exciting new destinations to be launched by the airline include London Gatwick, United Kingdom; Cardiff, United Kingdom; Lisbon, Portugal; Tallinn, Estonia; Valletta, Malta; Cebu and Davao, Philippines; Langkawi, Malaysia; Da Nang, Vietnam; Bodrum, Antalya and Hatay, Turkey; Mykonos and Thessaloniki, Greece; and Málaga, Spain.
In addition, services to Warsaw, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Prague and Kyiv will increase to a double daily frequency, while services to Madrid, Barcelona and the Maldives will increase to triple daily.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, H.E. Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “Qatar Airways is tremendously excited to announce further expansion with a significant number of new destinations to be added to our extensive global network throughout 2018 and 2019. This is a direct reflection of our commitment to connecting travellers across all corners of the world in a way that is meaningful and convenient to them. We are committed to continuing our ambitious growth strategy, in order to be able to provide our passengers with as much choice as possible and to take them anywhere in the world they wish to go.”
His Excellency also spoke passionately about the blockade against Qatar: “During the blockade Qatar Airways continued its expansion; it continued its march ahead. We kept our country supplied and we became prouder as a nation. The blockade made my ruler an icon of defiance. Today, we are more independent than we were nine months ago. We are very defiant, and Qatar Airways will keep on expanding and keep on raising the flag for my country all over the globe.”
The brand-new exhibition stand unveiled at the ceremony was designed with a concept of “augmented reality.” The new stand features a full 360 digital screen wrapping around the entire stand showcasing the signature Qatar Airways five-star journey, while in-flight entertainment experiences allow guests to place themselves virtually into one of the airline’s Business Class seats, complemented, of course, by a full-size display of the airline’s patented, award-winning “First in Business Class” concept, ‘Qsuite.’
Further developments for the upcoming year were discussed, including additions to the airline’s sporting sponsorship portfolio. Qatar Airways is already the official sponsor of many top-level sporting events, including the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia,™ the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™ and the FIFA Club World Cup™, reflecting the values of sports as a means of bringing people together, something at the core of the airline’s own brand message – Going Places Together.

Qatar Airways returns to Gatwick

Qatar Airways has resumed serving London Gatwick from its Doha base, after quitting the route in 2011.
The new twice-daily service, launched on 22 May, is being operated with a Boeing 787 configured with 254 seats: 22 in business and 232 in economy.

When it withdrew from Gatwick in 2011, Qatar Airways' chief executive Akbar Al Baker stated that "following a thorough review and analysis" the airline had concluded that "for commercial reasons" it "could no longer sustain the route", which had been operated with Airbus A330 equipment.
At the ITB travel trade fair in March this year, Al Baker disclosed the airline's plan for a Gatwick return and highlighted the significant development that had changed its calculation with regard to the London airport. "We are a shareholder in IAG, and we have British Airways and our other partners flying there, so we can connect them to the rest of our network."

Gatwick now becomes the sixth UK point served by the Oneworld member, after Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, London Heathrow and Manchester.
The new service's frequency will be stepped up to 16 flights per week over the summer period, says the operator.

Under what it terms its "expedited expansion plans", Qatar Airways is to serve a host of other new destinations. These, listed by Al Baker during ITB, include Estonian capital Tallinn, Maltese capital Valletta, Cebu and Davao in the Philippines, Langkawi in Malaysia, Da Nang in Vietnam, Bodrum and Antalya in Turkey, Mykonos in Greece, and Malaga in Spain.
Al Baker also indicated that the airline would programme a new Lisbon service "once we get the slot that we have requested", and that there were plans for an additional Scandinavian destination which he was unprepared to name.
