Aperture British Airways da LGW

Re: Ba inizia voli su LGW/LIM

Secondo la Embleton (MD BA Gatwick) "The airline says its launch of a Lima service is banking on the popularity of the world-class tourist sites found in Peru and will also provide a new link for British business seeking to invest in Peru’s growing market."

British Airways announces new direct flights to Cape Town from Gatwick Airport

BRITISH Airways has announced it is launching a new route from Gatwick Airport to Cape Town later this year.
The major airline is expanding its fleet or aircraft at Gatwick as new three-times-a-week flights are being added to its schedule.
From November 24 BA customers from the airport will be able to soak up Table Mountain's stunning views, explore the Cape Peninsular or meander up the beautiful Garden Route in an adventurous break.
The new winter only Gatwick flights will increase choice for customers, as BA already flies to Cape Town twice a day from Heathrow.

Lynne Embleton, British Airways' managing director at Gatwick said: "With its fantastic blend of nature, culture, wildlife and history there's nowhere quite like Cape Town.
"Its dramatic coastline, the breath-taking views from Table Mountain and world-renowned vineyards and restaurants make it one of the most popular places in Africa to visit and explore.
"We are incredibly excited to be the only airline to offer direct services from both Gatwick and Heathrow to this hugely popular destination while adding another long haul route to our rapidly growing network."
Fares will start from £795 for those flying in World Traveller, £1712 in World Traveller Plus and £3924, for those relaxing in fully-flat Club World seats, and all fares include taxes and charges.
The three flights will depart on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 6pm, arriving in to Cape Town at 7.50am the following morning.
This winter BA will add a fourth three-class Boeing 777 aircraft to its Gatwick fleet, bringing the total number of Boeing 777s at the airport to 12.
Cape Town is one of four long-haul destinations British Airways is launching from Gatwick this year, with flights to Costa Rica starting on April 27, daily flights to New York's JFK beginning on May 1 and flights to Lima, Peru commencing on May 4.

British Airways adds Gatwick – Ft. Lauderdale link from July 2017

British Airways today (27OCT16) announced planned service launch on London Gatwick – Ft. Lauderdale route, its 3rd Florida link from Gatwick. From 06JUL17, 3-class Boeing 777-200ER aircraft will operate this route, 4 times a week.

BA2169 LGW0925 – 1345FLL 777 x135
BA2168 FLL1700 – 0630+1LGW 777 x135

From 11SEP17, service operates 3 weekly, on Day 146.

British Airways apre Londra Gatwick-Oakland

Tariffe one-way su OAK a partire da £189.

Re: British Airways apre Londra Gatwick-Oakland

MRU aumenta in corrispondenza.

Re: British Airways apre Londra Gatwick-Oakland

British Airways drops Gatwick-Oakland route for winter

British Airways has confirmed plans to drop its flights between Gatwick and Oakland International airport for this winter.
The carrier launched flights to the San Francisco Bay area airport in March 2017, and has been competing with Norwegian on the route.
The last service for the summer season will be on October 20, and BA says it will relaunch the route in March 2019.
In a statement provided to Business Traveller the carrier said:
“We regularly review our schedule to ensure that we are flying to destinations popular with our customers, during the months they wish to fly. Oakland is a popular destination during the summer months, so the new schedule corresponds with customer demand.
“We’ll be using the slots and aircraft time to enable us to operate year-round flying to Vegas from Gatwick, and we’ll be adding three more flights a week to our schedule.”

British Airways leases out surplus ex-Monarch Gatwick slots

UK carrier British Airways (BA) has confirmed that it is leasing out some of the summer 2018 London Gatwick slots that it acquired from defunct UK leisure carrier Monarch Airlines, because it was unable to use them all.
BA parent company International Airlines Group (IAG) announced that it was acquiring Monarch Airline’s London Gatwick slot portfolio in November 2017, primarily for use by BA.
A BA spokesman said the extra slots have enabled the airline to operate its biggest schedule from Gatwick in more than a decade, but not all the slots could be used. Under the ‘use it or lose it’ rule, slots must be operated, or they will be returned to the slot administrators for reallocation.
“Given the very tight timescales involved it has not been possible to use all of the new slots in the first summer season. While we assess our future growth plans to make maximum use of the additional slots for the years ahead, we have leased out a small number of them, which is a very common industry practice at busy airports,” he said.
The spokesman declined to give any specifics about how many slots have been leased and to whom. “I can’t add anything further, as the terms of the slot leases are confidential,” he said.
He added that the slots will be used to support BA’s “medium- to long-term growth plans.”
The slots were sold to BA after a legal case between Monarch administrators KPMG and slot pool oversight body Airport Coordination (ACL). Initially the UK high court ruled that Monarch had no claim to its summer 2018 slots, although this decision was overturned on Nov. 22 by the UK Court of Appeal. ATW
