Ciao,

--- A350 XWB order cancellations ---
While the media have all been reporting last week's order cancellation for 25 Boeing 787 Dreamliners by RBS Aviation Capital ("Airbus Becomes PR Agent: For Boeing?", 12th May 09, FleetBuzz Editorial.com), very few or even no any media have revealed that there actually were order cancellations for Airbus' A350 XWB as well.
According to the Airbus Info dated back to January 2009, Italy's Air One has 12 orders for the A350-800 XWBs, as well as Maz Aviation has an order for 1 A350-800 Prestige and 5 A350-900 Prestige.
However, according to Airbus' Orders & Deliveries April Update, that Air One's and Maz Aviation's A350 XWB orders have been cancelled.
Reasonably the cancellation of Air One's A350 order was due to its integration with Alitalia, with this order cancellation as a measure to preserve cash and save the ailing Italian flag carrier.
Meanwhile, Aircraft Purchase Fleet has ordered 12 A350-800 XWBs that have not been included into the "Aircraft orders in 2009" section, while Kingfisher Airlines also ordered 5 A350-800 XWBs in April, despite the truth that Kingfisher's A350 order was not a new one, and that the Indian carrier has not finalized its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 15 additional A350-800 XWBs signed in Paris Air Show 2007.
And taking Kingfisher Airlines' "new" order into account may be considered by some as cheating, though.
Surprisingly, Maz Aviation's cancellation for 5 A350-900 XWBs as well as Aircraft Purchase Fleet's order for 12 A350-800 XWBs were neither included into the "Aircraft orders in 2009" section as well.
On the other hand, originally there were only 2 orders for the A350 Prestige, however, according to the latest update, there were 7 orders for the A350 Prestige, thus maintaining the total order backlog for the A350 XWB at 483.
Well, when the media have been overplaying the 787 order cancellations which are indeed quite normal under this tough economic environment, have they ever considered the similar situation with the A350 XWB, not to mention Aer Lingus' mull to cancel its order for 6 A350-900 XWBs?
Order Cancellation
Air One 12 A350-800 XWBs
Maz Aviation 6 A350 XWBs (1 A350-800, 5 A350-900s)
Order Addition
Aircraft Purchase Fleet 12 A350-800 XWBs
Airbus Executive & Private Jets 5 A350 XWBs
Kingfisher Airlines 5 A350-800 XWBs
