Air Koryo facebook page is pleased to announce a new addition the the carriers fleet. The new aircraft will come in the form of one of the latest and advanced generation of regional jetliner by the UAC's (United Aircraft Corporation, Russian Fed.) Antonov An-148. The first aircraft to be introduced to the smaller range of the fleet in some 25 years will be the modern all glass LCD flight deck, high winged, jet Antonov An-148 which will feature a dual configuration with 70 seat occupancy. The aircraft will be part of the carriers gradual fleet renewal scheme and expansion plan which will in course replace the regional aircraft on international flights and help with expansion of frequencies on existing markets. More information will be posted as we get it, once again a big thank you to all our fans!
The aircraft is yet to be delivered and the first frame will be delivered in the 1st quarter of 2013, so as yet no photos of the aircraft. The routes as stated will be regional routes and extra capacity services to our existing network.
Air Koryo will be utilising the aircraft on routes operated by aging Tu-154B aircraft (which are used as suplimentry and additional capacity flights) along with it's major.role as operating regional flights to China and Russia too (with higher frequencies). As for the Il-96 nothing has been spoken of and the direct.flights to Moscow.are.flown by Tupolev Tu-204 aircraft.
Air Koryo Korean Airways (조선민항 | Корё Ханггонг) Because Air Koryo operates and pan-Russian fleet of aircraft it would make.no sense to purchase an aircraft which none of your staff are trained to operate or hold the correct parts and other resources for. Plus have you seen many U.S. carriers opting to by say the Tu-204 while having a nesr all U.S built fleet?
