Se ne parla solo da un anno, ma sembra che ora sia stata presa la decisone. Niente male come celerità, per il rinnovo della flotta avevano tergiversato molti e molti anni.

Indian Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel yesterday informed the Lok Sabha (lower house of parliament) that the merged Air India's board voted to join Star Alliance, according to the United News of India news service and The Economic Times.

With alliances becoming increasingly interested in the growing Indian market, the combination of Air India and Indian Airlines appeared to be the big prize (ATWOnline, Jan. 23). Patel told parliament that the board intended to begin discussions with AI management on initiating the joining process, according to the reports. No other details were revealed, and neither the airline nor the alliance issued a statement. [...]

Io invece sapevo che Star Alliance stava facendo la corte a Jet Airways, ma probabilmente mi ricordo male. Alla fine LH ha un botto di voli sull'India, ora è entrata anche AI...
 
Non ricordi male, anche Jet era stata corteggiata dalla stella, ma ora penso che non ci sia più posto per lei.

Da un po' di tempo LH ha come partner sia Air India che Jet Airways. Solo che nell'ultimo anno si era fatta avanti per sponsorizzare l'ingresso di Air India nella Star Alliance.
Credo che, se dovesse effettivamente entrare, AI sarebbe una delle peggiori linee aeree nell'alleanza come qualità del servizio e del comfort a bordo.
